CanJet

Post by Rebel »

CanJet will launch weekly nonstop 737 service between Winnipeg and Orlando for a 16-week period beginning Feb. 9. Also, the airline will launch a second weekly nonstop flight between Hamilton and Orlando Feb. 8 and one weekly flight between Hamilton and St. Petersburg Nov. 5.

I think Canjet will continue to do well as long as they don't get too ambitious and move in on Westjets territory.

Probably wouldn't be a good idea to get right in their face by invading the west and opening up new routes.

I realize it hasn't happened yet....just saying that it would be hard to compete with Westjet on their home turf.

Like TP said.....GO Eastjet!

What route will get that aircraft to YWG? The aircraft needs to get there somehow, YHM-YWG? YYZ-YWG?

Or...

YHM-MCO-YWG-MCO-YHM

That way they still don't bump heads with Westjet and they don;t have to carry traffic to YWG domestically.

I think CanJet is going to do very well on this route as it will be the only available nonstop Winnipeg to Florida. Air Canada and Westjet are offering Florida service out of Winnipeg but only though YYC and YYZ.

There you go Winnipegers get that winter break in the sun! 8)

Hun in the Sun, you really have an axe to grind with Westjet eh? At least you make for some entertainment, kind of like a crackhead deleriously shouting random thoughts on a downtown street. You must be one bitter pill to work with.
YHM-MCO-YWG-MCO-YHM
Interesting, that a guess or is that the proposed routing?

While I hope that Canjet does do well on that route, Transat/Westjet have yet to release and finalize their winter charter schedule. I've been told that our program is to expand another 200% this year and I can only assume that YWG will have around 3-6 charter flights per week, most likely to the Carribean/Mexico, however. I wonder how much that will affect Canjet's plans?

Just a guess. But, without an annouced domestic YWG flight, it makes sense. Especially with a second YHM-MCO flight starting on the 8th and the YWG-MCO flight on the 9th.

So, utilize the YHM-MCO-YWG on Tuesday afternoon into the evening. RON in YWG and then reverse the route, YWG-MCO-YHM, on Wednesday.

Works in a couple of ways. The charter carriers mainly do Sat or Sun to Sat or Sun, so it stays out of there way. It offers the YHM-Florida traffic a several option...Sat to Sat...Sat to Wed...Tues to Sat...or even a ten day trip, so it opens several possible new markets.

It's also short-term on in the peak Florida season on a couple of soft weekdays. Might not be a bad plan. And, with the new alignment with SUN (I think it was SUN), there may be an opportunity to sell off any possible excess capacity.

It might just work out okay. I like the way they are developing without attempting to go head to head with the other three.

Canjet is is flying low under EVERY-ones radar, and I think that they will be around for a long time. Rumour is they are making money, load factor is over 75% still in Sept, they are getting more 500's and they aren't butting heads with WJ.

This is a niche carrier. Small but stable. I think in time they might be another Air-Transat type of operation. Maybe I should have gone to work there instead.
