Jazz Sept. GS
I made my interview May 25th and my medical two weeks ago. Does anyone have news about Jazz GS in september and what are the openings?

Time to get over it Stinky. But since you bring it up what experience level would you require to be comfortable with somebody ahead of you on a seniority list?I feel sorry for the guys in the following groundschool. I would hate to be behind those guys on the seniority list.
You can interpret that however you would like.

Yes it is true. While my friend was doing his medical and sim eval he met one of the grads who was hired and who is in the sept g/s.Goose757 wrote:Are they actually hiring people with 250 hours or is this still just hearsay? Can this be confirmed?C-HRIS wrote:Was speaking to a friend who interviewed recently as well and told me the sept g/s is for the 250hr college grads only.

I'm pretty much over it now, it's a done deal and I'm happy where I am so who cares.Time to get over it Stinky. But since you bring it up what experience level would you require to be comfortable with somebody ahead of you on a seniority list?
It would have been nice for Jazz to truly drain the pool before scraping the bottom. There is still a lot of experience out there.
Thats pretty pathetic. Thumbs down to Jazz for that one. I guess its only a matter of time before WestJet launches some sort of ad campaign exposing and criticizing this practice. I see this coming back to bite Jazz in the a$$.C-HRIS wrote:Yes it is true. While my friend was doing his medical and sim eval he met one of the grads who was hired and who is in the sept g/s.
Apparently, after the big groundschool on the 27th (23 people?), there will be two in September (first one being the college grads), and two in October. Having said that, it's aviation...could well change!
Swerved.
Swerved.
In a world full of people, only some want to fly. Isn't that crazy?

Good Luck.
Have not heard anything about college grads but then again have not paid too much attention to it either.

Orientation, initial CRM, Etc. YYZGoose757 wrote:Where is the training done for Jazz? Is it all, (groundschool/simulator/whatever else is involved), done in YYZ? Do they use CAE? When I was at CAE they were just installing a CRJ simulator. Just curious.
GS: RJ: YYZ, 705 Portion may be done in SEA, or YYZ....Maybe YUL(used to anyways, not sure if it is anymore)
GS Dash: YYZ or YVR.
Sim: RJ: YYZ, SEA, or YUL(not sure on YUL anymore)
Sim Dash: YYZ or YVR.
Yes they do use CAE. The RJ sim (100/200) has been there for a while. The 705/900 sim was recently moved in from YUL.
Keep in mind those are for initial training, recurrent training (except sim) is done at home base. Were you end up going may depend on Ground school dates, slots, etc
you will get a comprehensive schedule when you a assigned to an aircraft.
Actually we are starting the new hire college grads out on these simulators:

My understanding was that these college grads would be going through the course (all of it) ....ie. see how they do....before they actually make an offer of employment....ie just because they start groundschool on the 3rd or whatever won't mean they'll be ahead of if you start two weeks later? That was my take........we are still awaiting the risk assesment supposedly too.

Sorry nope, there hired. They are getting the same training as we get plus a week on get this, HOW TO ACT, extra sexual harassment, CRM, etc. Basically how to be mature at work seeing as they are younger with no experience in this.
That is right from a training managers mouth to so.
I'm one of the 8 grads and I'm looking foward to work with guys that have a lot to show me and create a good work atmosphere. I fully understand people that doesn't agree with this program but I hope that we won't be victims of that, because we will need help from you more than any other employees.
Might wanna throw in a copy of 'The Jackie Robinson Story' with the rest of your study material for pointers on how to handle the tiny-peckered from the bigot brigade.Luis wrote:I'm one of the 8 grads and I'm looking foward to work with guys that have a lot to show me and create a good work atmosphere....
Congratulations Luis.
As I've said numerous times, I'm not so sure I agree with this. I have friends that have been flying for a long time hoping to get an opportunity like this so it's frustrating to see it go to relatively new pilots.
I think you'll find you get a warm reception at Jazz, I have no problem with the guys taking the job. I would have jumped at the chance as well.
Good luck.
