Hi,

Ive got the smaller of the 2 Jepp flight computers.

Can someone please tell me how to calculate the calibrated airspeed.
I need to find out the KCAS so I can use the POH to find the KIAS.(my instructor has a different computer)

The book only shows you how to calculate the True airspeed using the calibrated airspeed,Pressure and Temp.

Ive tried doing it in reverse but it doesnt work.

Hopefully someone uses the Jepp computer.

you get CAS from the aircraft POH and not the Flight Computer

Memory's a little rusty

1 - Set up PA vs Temp in the Airspeed correction window

2 - Find TAS from your POH, then find it on the 'outside' wheel on the whiz wheel

3- Read the CAS under the TAS on the inside wheel

4 - Plan on !!!

Funny they call it the old method .... For starting students, it's the easiest way to find CAS or TAS, as long as you have one or the either. As a disclaimer, this method does not account for temp rise and compressability issues associated with high-speed aircraft.

Thanks for the disclaimer too .My little cessna doesnt go that fast do I dont have to worry in the mean time.
