Fueling King Airs.

Post by Clark Kent »

Hi there!

Trying to figure out if the fueling steps (main-aux) on the king airs are the same on every type. Looking to compare 90-100 (A_B),200, 350.

Also wondering about how much pounds (Main-aux) tanks contains.

Thanks!

What's a fueling step?

The -100 takes 374 USG the A100 takes 470 USG
The 200 takes 544 USG and the 350 takes 539 USG

You do the math how "much" pounds that is.

Fueling King Air(s)

Post by Samolin »

It depends on what kind of wing spar modifications have been done on the aircraft.

It is best to fuel in the following order... Main,, Main,, Aux,, Aux,,.... and you wouldn't go wrong.

Some 100s also have a Nacelle fueling capability.... just follow the directions in the following AFM and you will do fine!

Beautiful and Stable plane!

Both the 200 and the 350 have limitations that state you're not allowed to fuel the auxs unless the mains are full.

With 99 % of all king airs

Nac tanks first, then mains, auxs are always the last to be filled

on the a100, Main= 1350lbs/tank so 2700lbs total.
Aux = 275lbs/tank so 550 total.
Cant say i'm totally sure about all the king airs, but in order to get fuel from the aux tanks you need flow from the main tanks.. so if you're silly and burn all your main fuel first you go down with 2 bombs in your wings.

Not entirely sure either but all the photo's I've found have Auto, and Override on the Fuel control Panel. pretty sure this is so you don't overflow the mains while power is on on the ground without the engines running. the override would/should allow use of the aux fuel during an engine out situation. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

You are wrong for the A100, F/O Crunch is correct. I don't know about other King Air models.

Ah grasshopper you want to learn the art of KUNG-FU FUELING

You must first learn the song as sung by Carl Davies
"Everyone was KUNG-FU FUELING

Everyone was Kung-FU Fueling
Top it off top it off top it off
Man those caps came off in lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
Until this funky non china dude looked a bit like Hazatude
Said get your hose off my pants leg thats Rude
Cause we don't fuel in lighting anymore

Chorus
Everone was Kung-Fu Fueling
Those guys were fast as lighting
In fact it was a little bit frightning
Everyone was Kung-Fu Fueling
Top-it off top it off top it off

Please feel free to add the next lines !!!
Note that Carl Davies original version of Kung-fu fighting is still played at all the Euro-trash disco nights and Karaoke bars all over the planet
So having a fueler version ready for an avcanada karaoke night would be fun
