Fall Road Trip?

Is fall a good time to hit the road looking for a job? I realize most of the hiring for the ramps is done in the spring but if I can get a job now the better. I'm planning to do at least Ontario and Manitoba. Are the Maritimes
worth it?

I think that the fall is a decent time for the north as some operations become busier up there when the ground freezes up. I would make some calls and see if it is worth it to to NWT as well. as for the south, I am not too sure. You should just call some operators that are along your intended path and ask if they plan on bringing on more crew. they are usually pretty good about answering those kinds of queries.

I know I haven't given you a definitive yes or no answer, but some investigating with the companies directly would probably give you the info to make that decision.

There's always movement within companies. so the best thing to do is call and e-mail as many places as possible before you go anywhere. You would probably have better luck in the spring but you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

try Northway and Wamair in Manitoba. Not much ski flying left here. Those outfits do a lot of sked stuff on wheels. :D

There's actually quite a few companies looking right now, especially west of Ontario. As long as you are willing to put your time in on the ramp or in dispatch, etc. you should be able to find something. I'm just on my way back from a cross country "air" trip, to move out to my new job. Good luck on your trip!
