The European "SSTR" !! Coming to an airline near y

Post by ZBB118.10 »

SSTR = self sponsored type rating (!!!!!!)

This thread on PPrune just about says it all:

Ryanair

You apply to them, they interview you, put you through a sim check, and if you are suitable, this is what you have to shell out for (this program mainly for low hour JAA fATPL guys (250hr-500hr):

Type Rating : £23,000ish (737-800)
Accom: £2000
Disclosure: £60
ID: £100
Uniform: £300
Insurance: £150
SEP: £2.40
IAA license: £200

So, £25,812, which equates to about $58K. That's after your initial flight training to fATPL level, which from zero to 250hr ish mark will set you back easily £40K in the UK.

The kicker of all this is that once qualified, there is a qualifying probationary period (6 months I think but not sure) where you are on the low salary of £10K/year.

So watch out boys, its-a-catchin' on with the big guys...deplorable as it is at that level of the industry.....hope WJ and AC don't start this...

Only 10,000 pounds, and I thought Jazz paid poorly. I hope it doesn't cross the pond.

You pilots do realize you have control over this right? Stand your moral ground together.

I know its easy for me to say sitting on this side of the fence where the grass is for the moment green, but still, the only people who will stop it are pilots.

Now is the time to do it while you're all in such demand!

problem is that will be attracting new wannabe pilots, those that don't know much of anything aviation related especially the decline of our industry and our thoughts on the subject.
