AC aircraft delivery and retirements

Does anyone know if AC is done taking delivery of the EMB's and if they are done crewing the ones they've acquired? IF so, are the next groundschools just to cover retirements? Things appear to be slowing down, does this mean they are going to stop raping the regionals and corporate operators?

10-12 more to go. No they are not all crewed. Last one arrives in about March. In other words they are almost caught up to expansion plans.

Yes. Starting I would guess by next spring. The assumption here is that AC does not plan more growth or divert from the present plan.

No. Just at half the rate experienced for the last few years.

This data is 2 years old. Won't be completely accurate but close enough. Almost 40% of the list will retire in the next 10 years

10 or 12 more to go? I thought for sure they had filled their EMB orders, but that was just hearsay. So it's safe to say the interviews that are still going on are to satisfy expansion? I heard they still had a hundred or so more seats to fill on the EMB's.

This just came from ACPA with regard to continued hiring

"New Hire Pilots
Next week, we will welcome another new hire class of 17 pilots. I have been advised that there will be two more classes this year. The Company is expecting to hire an additional 185 number of pilots for the remainder of 2007 and in 2008, and to date, since the hiring began in 2005, they have processed a total of 665 new hire pilots. I look forward to greeting this new class next week and welcoming them on behalf of the membership."

The last 10 fins of the Embraer delivery are apparently HF and slide raft equipped.

Sounds exciting, is that 2 more classes in addition to the courses they already had scheduled? What does Slide Raft equipped mean?

It means YYT to LHR on an Embraer

Just kidding. A slide raft is an evacuation slide that can detach from the aircraft and then become a life raft. It makes it legal to fly further offshore so Bermuda may become an Embraer destination. I don't see the need for HF in Bermuda or the Caribbean mind you. I don't recall having to use HF into Bermuda. Anyway, just a rumour for now.

Not sure if the classes are in addition to the already scheduled ones or not. I did also hear that all the frozen Jazz guys are coming now, so that backlog will get cleared finally.

The last of the freezes at Jazz end sometime in mid May I believe, so should be a constant supply of Jazz drivers coming until then. There is a bubble of guys right now coming over until the holidays due to a big training push that was happening about two years ago at Jazz.

Of course I have heard of early releases to clear the list by the early new year, also heard there might not be enough spots for everyone but so far everything seems to be running normally. Cannot cite a credible source for the above info by the way, just some of the things circulating.

185 is the projected number required from today to the end of 2008. Just as expected it works out to about 1/2 the hiring rate of the last 2 years.

I am thinking that rumor is from a statement made by FLT OPS that may have slowly been taken out of context.

I think the statement was more along the lines of, as hiring slows, managing the back log at Jazz becomes more difficult. The numbers need to be reduced. I took it to mean that the flow from Jazz needed to increase in order to bring the number of frozen pilots at Jazz down to a manageable number based on the hiring required. It appears that is exactly what is happening.

I did a Bermuda turn about a month ago and I'm pretty sure we were on HF for at least some portion of the flight (New York ARINC?) until you get close enough to Bermuda to pick up New York on VHF again.
