Jazz Positives ONLY
So, I am one of the many AC rejects...now I need to hear all the positives about Jazz. Positives only please...otherwise I might just slit my throat on the way to my Jazz interview.
From everything I've seen so far (7 months in), it's a first class operation. No workplace is perfect, but the people I've flown with have been great, the schedule is pretty good (and gets better with time), the hotels are nice (again, for the most part), and it seems to be pretty well run. All in all, I'd be quite happy to spend my career here.
Best of luck,
Swerved.

In a world full of people, only some want to fly. Isn't that crazy?

Oh, I'm going to catch hell for this one.
Nice one!!!!!!!!!
Really that is the only big negative, the pay.(I know you said positives but that is the only thing that may really bother you ). Aside from that, it is a great place to work:
Good training and equipment, routes,
Decent layovers
People are awesome to work with.
Benefits such as dental, travel. medical, etc....all really good.
Pension
Good schedule which you can have some control over time.
Very little bullshit and pressure.
Has it quirks but it is all what you make of it.
And if you come to Jazz and decide that you don't like it here....Well you will have some pretty good experience under your belt. Jet/Heavy trubine time, EFIS, FMS, High density, etc. Which could lead to greener pastures....WJ,CX,EK,AT,SW to name a few.
Good luck with you interview and decisions

With regard to pay. I don`t think it is that bad. We make a lot more than the regional guys in the US. From an economic point of view, we cannot make as much as guys flying bigger equipment because we don`t generate the same revenue.
The problem is the upgrade time. When you`re making $40K for 10 yrs is a lot different than for 3-5 yrs. I believe mgmt is trying to correct his by expanding our business. However, we can`t even staff enough guys to meet the CPA requirements.

I thought 2nd year pay was $42K plus per diems! Is there a pay cut at year 3?When you`re making $40K for 10 yrs is a lot different than for 3-5 yrs
I understand what you are trying to say Bede, but please post facts for the benefit of those trying to make an informed decision.
Cheers

Try $35K USD in your 4th year flying the CRJ for an American regional, NO pention, NO free med benefits, and really crappy mngtm. This makes Jazz look like heaven.
So the nitty gritty:
What is the realistic upgrade time in YYZ/YUL? Is it 3-5 years or 10?
Is there an aircraft lock/base lock for 2 years?
Is it realistic to possibly get YYZ/YUL?
And how do I make the quote look like all the other ones posted on this site!!!???
Just ask... JC

When I fly with them - and it is frequent, the coffee is fresh, service is pleasent, they get me to my distination on time(as best they can) and my luggage always arrives with me. What can I say.... oh by the way my better half loves their "cute little airplanes with the engines on the back".
I am not an employee of JAZZ - never was, not now and certainly never will be.

Too lazy to look up the first one, but more like 5+ on the Dash in YUL/YYZRed Reject wrote:So the nitty gritty:

Frozen two years on type; change base anytime there's a bid, only if you can hold it. They come usually every 6 months with mini-bids sometimes inbetween
Seems like you can get into YYZ and YUL no problem.
Blue
ps
Code: Select all
So the nitty gritty:
estimates are closer to 7 yrs for upgrade in YYZ/YUL on the dash.....even though people are leaving, the current Captains aren't going anywhere except for retirements, which aren't really happening too much in the future. Of course those numbers will change if Jazz expands and adds more A/C.
Didn't know you still had access to that information.estimates are closer to 7 yrs for upgrade in YYZ/YUL on the dash.....even though people are leaving, the current Captains aren't going anywhere except for retirements, which aren't really happening too much in the future. But the US Pilots dont have to go up north to fly clapped out navajo's and freeze thier asses off for 7 years to come back and make 35k... Pay Sucks and thats it.Bede wrote:With regard to pay. Didn't do well on the psych eval, huh?Red Reject wrote:...otherwise I might just slit my throat on the way to my Jazz interview.
You'll love it, as you said you are already aware of the pay so your laughing it won't be a shocker. That to me is the only negative.
I came prepared, took a huge pay cut but have NO regrets on coming.
I find there is good moral, great people that you work with, lay overs are good, perdiems are good, aircraft are good(IF YOUR ON THE RJ:) the dash sucks. haha kidding guys)maintenance is good. Management like every company could use a little change.
Overall its awesome, But NOT of everyone.
However that depends on where you are coming from as well, I have a buddy that has a interview coming up that is working for Calm Air, after talking with him it will be a very hard decision on what to do as they get everything that we get so.
I would say just due the interview and ask as many questions that you can on things that you would like to know. Decide on that.
Good Luck

Well, thanks guys. I appreciate the pep talk. It is a hard decision because I am pretty much swapping from one airline to another, one for one. So, now I must decide, upgrade where I am now and live through the crappy commute or move to Jazz. Either way, thanks for the info.
