Try Landing a Q400
Just found this link on a dansih website. "dash n Crash" . Try and land the Q400 without collapsing the gear. its in dansih but the "A"and "Z" control up and down and arrow keys control the rest. Its pretty funny but a little twisted too i guess.

Like "pointyertoes" says it's not that it is hard to land, but hard to grease with any consistency. You can have it perfectly set up and just when you think it's going to kiss the ground - thunk!
It's a fantastic airplane and flys pretty much like a jet. The acceleration on the takeoff roll, especially when using normal takeoff power is just awesome.

It would be interesting to take the FDR data from a couple thousand -200 landings, and compare them to that from a couple thousand -400 landings, and compare the gear loading during touchdown on them. If indeed the 400 has a tendancy to arrive with a 'thunk', maybe SAS does have a valid gripe...

Don't over-analyze Pointyertoes' description of the Q400 too much - he's still trying to figure out how to land the thing!goldeneagle wrote:Nightflight wrote:Like "pointyertoes" says it's not that it is hard to land, but hard to grease with any consistency. ...exactly, which is why I have so much faith in the gear. If it can put up with the 'pointyertoes' treatment, it should be able to handle anything!Valhalla wrote: Don't over-analyze Pointyertoes' description of the Q400 too much - he's still trying to figure out how to land the thing!
ps. I loved your PIREP the other day on the approach at TZ

So you guys are into having anal sex with each other after you land a -400?"...it's like my backside, hairy but doable."
Interesting, is that a Jazz thing or are other -400 pilots allowed to participate is this activity??
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

How can it be a Jazz thing if they're talking about YTZ and Q400's.. Jazz doesn't go there and they don't fly -400's..

Hey, no problem....I'm a little out of the loop on who flys what where in Canada.
So I apologize for my reference to the Jazz guys.
