When did you apply for ATC, when was your interview, and how long did you have to wait for an answer?

Man, that does suck. In my case I was "standby" for that class, which means if somebody dropped out before the beginning of the class, I would take their place.

I was hoping also if it was not the case, I would stand a good chance to be confirmed on the next class that was already scheduled for May 19th.

I guess they have merged both classes together but I doubt it will be double the size of a regular class...

I guess we'll see what happens, but it sucks big time! :-(

For those already selected, I hope it doesn't mean a shakeup in the actual selections.

I assume that the reason is Montreal specific? I'm on the Feb 25th course in YYZ. Any rumours of delays in Toronto?

In the email I received, there was no reason specified, just asking for a reply to make sure we had indeed read the email and asked if we were still interested in doing the course. There was no mention of anybody being booted from the course or anything like that, just apologizing for all the trouble.

gotta go almost another 6 months now! man this sucks!

I first wrote my tests in January of this year, had my interview in May, I finally got an offer in September.

Thanks Braun, that would be great. I think I'll write an email to NCTI's registrar too, to know what's going on.

Thank you, I was wondering how long it took you to get an answer. I recently did my interview, and haven't heard anything in over a month. So I'm guessing this means any later courses will also be postponed?

The call back's vary for everyone. It took me two weeks after the tests to receive the interview and then after that about another 3-4 weeks for an update.

It took me quite some time to hear back after the interview. The interview was in December last year (10th ish). My status was updated end of Feb ish. Apparently they were short staffed at the time.

It seems to really vary how often they run courses. At my interview, their schedule showed Toronto running an IFR course every 3 months. But I believe the only course start in 2007 was March (unless one started in November).

Just found out that they will be combining 2 classes, the class that was supposed to start Jan 21st and the one on May 19th. Still no reason given, but I did find out that there will be 12 people on course!

So if your on it, you would have been notified by now!

Nav Canada have put too much money in the CAATS system...
The training is postponed for that only reason...sorry for you guys.

I can only tell you one thing : If you have the patience and the opportunity to make it you'll never regret it.

Yeah but the delays for the training was due to the sim being occupied and now the controllers have all done their sim training so the sim is no longer occupied by CAATS. So I don't really think that's the reason, plus the training budget is separate from the CAATS budget most likely.

Don't put it past the Company to be creatively moving money around between budgets. Yes the training budget is different than the CAATS budget but they did need to "train" the Controllers for CAATS and that $$ could have been put under who knows which budget.

All the extra $$ on OT that went into training and preparing for CAATS could have easily put the OT budget for the year into the red. Now they are looking at pulling intructors off the floor to teach in the school and the sim which requires them to be backfilled on the Floor with more OT.

Keep in mind all the managers have targets to meet concerning budgeting and their year end bonus depends on it.

At the end of the day, much like the airlines, the all mighty $ plays an important part in a lot of decisions.

Which is exactly the way a company that is almost exclusively funded by airline passengers should be run. If NC were "government", as some of the ignoramouses on here claim, they'd spend with reckless abandon regardless of the impact on the bottom line.
