Thunder's new Caravan ad

Am I reading their ad correctly? Is a direct entry captain going to make $75000.00 their first year? Perhaps it's time for Rudy to dust of that old 208 POH.

Just re-read it. Looks like you might be able to get $80000.00 for the year if you get the 'relocation bonus' as well as 'retention bonus'.

Yeh,
I got a little shock therapy on that ad too...what the hell, $70K for a Caravan captain??!!

Let me see, how much does Jazz and AC start you off at??
This can't be right, right?

Tier Two First Officer: greater than 1500 TT and 500 MPIC
all aircraft types: $30,000/annum base plus mileage
Captains – All Aircraft: Year #1 $30,000.00 / annum base plus 0.10/ mile
Something a little wrong there.

This is as advertised. I need an experienced Captain for the “van”. Our present Captain has busted his ass and needs relief! I have also committed to him to get him Captain on the King Air. So…..if you have the experience on the van to do the job and will stick around, that is what it will pay. If you want to be on a RJ or Dash in 6 months, this is not for you. I am looking for long term employees; not ones that call me 1 week after we upgraded them to Captain on the King Air to say they now have 1500 hours and Jazz called.

If you have the minimum and have little or no real experience, start at the bottom and work your way up…..just like J.P.! (good work JP!) (Schlem…12 G’s for sim training alone)

Good for you for paying a proper wage for an experienced guy. Can I ask what the schedule is?

This is a great gig boys and girls. But, like bobm says, he's looking for someone to stick around. And, if you can make 70K driving a Caravan, and you don't stick around, you're an idiot! If you can't give them at least two to three years, don't waste their time.

BTW, YTS is a great town. All the "bells and whistles"! Where are gigs like this when I'm looking?

Bob,

You need to offer something like that in YSB, then you might have a taker here :D . Looking for something stable with decent pay so me and the wife can move home.

I worked for Thunder before the wages went way up. It was a great place to work. I'm always tossing up the idea of way more money vs. career airline job. Then I think of our socialist tax structure and realize that trying to make any money in this country is really an exercise in futility. Long live doing no work and getting paid for it!!

Gillera had a shaft drive version of that bike from the early sixties .It was also available in green although i have never seen a green one .It is a shame it did not come in purple as she would look good sitting on a purple shaft bike

A Caravan operator in BC pays 65K + a year. I think its a fair wage for what they do, even deserves more.

Hey Bobm, any chance you're looking for contractors to get you through the winter? I noticed the bottom of the add it gave info about part time contractors.
