Calm Air
I tried the search query on them but couldn't find anything.
Does anyone know if they hire lower time pilots? Ground positions into flying positions?

Re: Calm Air
There are many small airlines in the North of Canada which hire pilot for initial ramp attendant positions and later they put pilots on flying positions once available! However, you must have a positive have a positive attitude to do well on the job as it counts towards co-pilot positions.
Re: Calm Air
I believe ATPL with 1500hrs minimum although some of the people I know hired had around 2500hrs. I think its $45,000 start pay and a 2 year bond.
Calm Air?
With Calm Air having been purchased earlier in the year by the EIIF Group, are there any updates regarding them? As EIIF also own Keewatin and Perimeter, any talk about merging these three, or any planned cutbacks?
There isn't a lot of information on Calm Air on these forums, so I think some insight is warranted.

Re: Calm Air?
What I have heard from a couple of guys that worked there is that it was a good place as far as schedule and pay, did not know they were bought this year.Though Perimeter and Keewatin are still doing well so I would think it will be good.

Did you start here?
http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/airl ... m_air.html
Full Benefit Package, Interline, etc. They are ALPA members, which is a good start.
Upgrades, from what I have heard, and please correct me if this is incorrect, are solely based on seniority.
I don't know enough about EIIF ( http://www.exchangeincomecorp.ca ) but would assume things are pretty stable for them.
Hopefully that gets the ball rolling and heads you in a positive direction.

Re: CALM AIR PLS!!
I know they used to ask for an ATPL as a minimum requirement, is this still the case?
Flying airplanes is easy, you just need to PAY ATTENTION. Finding a good job on the other hand takes experience, practice, and some serious talent.

Re: CALM AIR PLS!!
It's a pretty good starting point to be competitive right now, from what I have heard. You'll want to at least have an IATRA and some turbine time at minimum, but these are competitive times as you know.
Re: CALM AIR PLS!!
Great place, I have never heard anyone complain. The pay is above industry standard. The C.P, Capt. Astwood is a real nice guy and the President(former V.P) Gary Beaurivage is a real stand up guy. A friend of mine who left there for AC was torn, almost decided to stay. In the end the only real problem would be whether or not you can invision Bakerlake overnights for the next 25 yrs.
Also a previous post mentioned interline, Last I heard they lost the interline agreement because they didn't switch their res system. Anyone know if that's been rectified. I would love to visit the north again.

Not sure how accurate it is but it must be close enough to have some sort of idea.

Re: Calm Air
yeah sorry guess I didnt adress that part of the thread, those numbers are very close within 5%
Re: Calm Air
Actually, those numbers are quite a bit off.
It shows my hourly rate as $77, but it is actually $88.
My minimums for a year work out to be around $85,000. Add in some overtime, and about $7000 in per diems, stock purchase plan = over $100,000 per year. Not bad for flying 2 or 3 days a week, and being home pretty much every night!
Great company, and only getting better!

Re: Calm Air
There is a "have an Update" tab at the bottom of the quicktake section. If you click on it, it takes you to a page where you can supply the correct information. Those wages, I believe are before your last contract. It would be nice to have more current info there for prospective applicants.

So your a Capt, and not doing anytime in YYQ? That is if your flying 2-3 days a week and home most nights! If you have been there long enough to bid out of YYQ then shouldnt your pay be higher?
Anyone can do it, I just do it better ! ! !
Calm Air
Just wondering if there are any people from Calm Air on here, I have never heard a bad thing about the company is it really that good? or are there a few things that could get to a guy after a while. (seems like every company has to have a few downsides)

Re: Calm Air
I was in dispatch there from 2000-2006 - and ya know it really was a decent place to work, decent people, I liked it, if dispatch hadn't been based in Thompson I'd have probably stayed longer.
There's been a change in ownership since then and I can't really say whether that's been for the better or the detriment - but I suspect it would be for the better.

Re: Calm Air
I would also like to learn about this particular company.
What are the requirements, how many work days, what are the days like. Is the pay decent? Are the routes challenging?
Thanks in advance.

The trouble with my life is that I do not think I am cut out to sit behind a desk.
