Where to grab an apartment in the big smoke?? (CYYZ)

Hey there I'm finally surcumbing to move into Toronto so I figured I'd throw this out there.
I have my eye on Bloor, lil Italy and High Park, places somewhat close to the airport.
Where are some of the hot spots to check out? Also where are the areas to avoid (besides jane&finch)?
