Hello Guys,

I am new to this forum and this is my first post I have extensive information about Harv's Air, MFC, Victoria Flying Club, already and have read through the post's on this and other sites.

I am from the Kuwait and am considering coming to Canadian for PPL sometime between June and July. As I do not live in Canada I turn to you folks for honest advice..

I just wanted some recent information on the 'truth' behind the schools? How good are instructors? Aircraft? Facilities - I am currently stuck between choosing Steinbach or St. Andrews? I know it has a cosmopolitan and international feel to it.

It seems like quite a well run outfit with good facilities, but this could be just marketing!

I only have limited vacation and have set aside between 3-5 weeks for completing the PPL, and will rent an individual room. I will also try and clear the ground school before coming to Canada. I have a TC Class 1 medical.

The problem I have is that visiting the school before hand to find out exactly what it is like may be a problem, and I know the risks associated with going in 'blind'?

I am just trying to minimize this so would appreciate any information about cheep and good School or College.

Please recommend me on Aviation program, which is the best to go for course by course or attend some college university programs, as a professional pilot.

I have got some information from the colleges, whichs look like cheep then flying club,
College, First Nations Technical Institute, Confederation College, HURON FLIGHT COLLEGE, Centennial College, saultcollege.


How about the aviation job market, it is easy to get job during study if I am consider to study complete course and work after.

You can try contacting Ahmed Sobir thru Facebook as he just finished his training at Harv's Air and has gone back to the Maldives. I don't have have an email address for him. Possibly he could answer some of your questions!

I do know that Confederation College will accept foreign students into their Flight Management Program but it will take you approx. 18 months to complete the program.

I don't know much about Harvsair, but I'd be surprised if you could do a PPL in 3-5 weeks, considering you'd have to do the ground school, the written exam, at least 45 hours of flying. You'll be at the mercy of the weather. Cadets can do it in 6 weeks in the summer if they have pretty good weather, that's the fastest I've seen it done. And they aren't working part-time, which you seem to be planning. Allot yourself more time, and forget about the part-time job unless you want to take even longer on the license.
