If true - what are they going to use it for?
Not purolator??
Wrong aircraft for overseas work. Maybe South America?

Are they going to try to do ACMI work?
Its quite competitive, but a growing market, especially the Pacific rim.

If it's true, that could mean more employment opportunities.

Oh no, don't think that Kelowna flightcraft will be looking for new employees. They just laid off some engineers in YVR back in november. More layoffs still yet to come.
Why is this DC10 fresh off C check when it is due landing gear replacement? Next thing you know this aircraft which is freshly off C check is due engine overhaul!
If it is true, why would KFC fly one aircraft that is bigger than 3 727's and consume more gas than 6 727's to do the same job? Have you ever consdered that maybe KFC need to fly aircraft for a minum time period B4 they can fly aircraft type over water?

Last I heard, the DC10 deal was dead (like every other carrot KFC dangles). Supposed aircraft bought bought by someone else (guess they didn't put a deposit on it?)

going to tell that to the multiple major frieght companies that use them everyday overseas? Well the other way from YVR but still.
Not to mention Fed-Ex, I know it's MD-11 but isn't it just avionics that's different?

Here I stole this from another fourm.
The MD11 has superior range to the DC10
- The MD11 holds more passengers than the DC10
- The MD11 has winglets, the DC10 doesn't
- The MD11 was introduced many years later than the DC10
- The MD11 features a EFIS flightdeck, the DC10 doesn't
- The MD11 needs 2 flight deck crews, the DC10 needs 3
- The MD11 is a 5.71m (18ft 9in) stretch compared to the DC10
- The MD11 has a modified tail with less sweepback than the DC10
- The MD11 features newer engine options from both GE and PW
- The MD11 was faster than the DC10.
- The MD11 featured a new cabin than the DC10
I know that Fedex spearheaded the modification of the DC10 to the MD10 wich took the S/O out and modified the avionics to make the DC10 2 crew instead of three and called it the MD10

Airplanes coming online in Sept. Yes one was in C-Check for MLG replacement and an engine Re+Re.
Cheers.

Where are they going to put that thing in YHM? Maybe Haza should offer up more space over at Peninsulair, like he did with Cargojet.
