Arctic Goose

Post by sheephunter »

Heading north soon and need some clothing. Was looking at the Arctic Goose Parkas as well as the Northern Outfitters systems. Any advise on the Goose. They have lots to choose from but unfortunately don't have their prices listed on their website. Anyone know what some of those parkas cost?

Thanks

Depends on where you buy the Goose runs anywhere from 350 -1000 dollars for one. The goose website has no prices as they sell to distributors. Check on the site for the nearest dealer. Search the web for the best price, there is a company in ontario that has them pretty cheap, i think their website is gearup.com but I am not sure. I have the expedition works nicely up in Rankin Inlet/Repulse Bay area.

Cheers

Apache64,

Thanks, which model are you using? They have a bunch of them and they all look good to me. I can make some calls in the morning about prices.

You're right, I should have re-read the post. Anyway, thanks to all. Have checked out http://www.gear-up.com (Thunder Bay) and they have a big clearance on parkas but limited sizes. At regular prices they have lots to choose from. Went back to http://www.canada-goose.com and looked up distributors and found a good one in Timmins (Dumoulin Fishing & Tackle) that had lots of inventory, not blow out prices yet but reasonably priced for still being winter up there. Actaully spoke with the owners son, very personable, knowledgeable, curteous. etc.etc. I think I'll get the Expedition. He didn't have the Mantra or Vostek, when I asked about it he immediately asked if I was TC. Thanks again. If anyone has a used XL, let me know soon.

Try heading to your local Costco. I bought Sorel down parka a few months ago and it has been awesome. It is not in the same class as a Resolute, but it is warm non the less and cheap. Could be picked up for a mere $200. I can't speak for durability as I have only had it a few months. I tried finding it on the internet and I can't seem to find a picture anywhere.

Was in Thunder Bay and they were selling the Snow Goose right at Mark's Work Wearhouse...they had the full meal deal as well as the smaller more not so arctic circle jackets...

Good luck.

Ended up getting the Heli-Arctic. Did a lot of research. Mostly on prices. Found that most places just have 1-2 units and want to order in at full list price. The places with lots had reasonable prices. Or at least quite a bit less than MSLP... if that is reasonable. The cheapest place took the order, said they'd ship UPS next day and called a couple days later to say they didn't have what they had told me they had and wanted me to buy something different. Did find a 2XL Expedition for $400.00 in black. That was the best deal but too big for me. Oh yeah I called Gear Up in Thunder Bay and left a message which is yet to be returned. Also, found a bunch on e-bay to find out these jackets have a good possibility of being "knock offs". I think there could be some great deals if a guy could wait until April / May. Thanks for all the help and leads. One question: Does anyone out there have one of their jackets in the "Bonfire" colour and if so, is it close enough in colour to call it "hunter orange"?

I've been to this store in Anchorage and they had lots of stock. They're cheaper to buy in Montreal but you never get the sizes or colours you want.
