PT6 HSI FEELER GAUGEE
JUST WONDERING IF ANY KNOWS WHERE A GUY CAN PURCHASE A DECENT SET OF LONG FEELER GAUGES THAT WOULD WORK WELL FOR CT TIP CLEARACES ON PT6-27/28
Re: PT6 HSI FEELER GAUGEE
Snap-on doesn't have a tapered set....at least that is what our dealer says. I just found me a set of short tapered ones at House of Tools for $10 or something.
I personally like the short ones (3 inch) better than the long ones as they don't get in the way as much.

I took the PT6A HSI course, and all they had has a set of blue point feeler guages that were tapered down by a belt sander.

Proto used to have a similar set that could be modified. They may still do if you are near an Acklands you can check it out.
Re: PT6 HSI FEELER GAUGEE
You used to be able to buy them from Pratt as a specialty tool. (And of course at there specialty tool price too!)
The instructor I had at pratt years ago said exactly what was stated in one of the other posts here.
Buy a set of feeler gauges and sand them down to a taper.
Good set of long reach diesel ones are what I use.
From Allied tools! Years ago

Gosh can't remember where my feeler gauges were bought.
I think I got them from truck, like Allied. They were tapered new. Tapered is important. With curve of the segment a normal width feeler won't work.

Don't be disgruntled....move on!

My set of feeler gauges are made by General Tools. I think they can be found at places like Allied Tool, House Of Tools, etc. They are tapered and the full set only cost around $15. Mine is the only set where I work. Everyone else uses the 1/4 inch wide Snap-On set.
