Here is a video of CL-415 putting out a ship fire a few days ago.

Great video! I was surprised that they didn't make longitudinal passes every time - seems like it would've given better coverage. Also kind of surprised that they'd task a 415 to that fire as opposed to extra fireboats. Any comments from guys who know what they're talking about?

That RO-RO means roll-on roll-off so it was probably filled with trucks or train cars. The fire was inside and the foam that the 415 drops is very effective at coating fuels. I can only guess that the strategy was to get the water inside.
"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."

Re: CL-415 put out ship fire
To start with, I know next to nothing about water bombing, and even less about ships, but my question here is, how much water/foam, etc would it take to start worrying about capsizing that ship? Surely the bilge pumps would not be able to keep up to two fire fighting tugs, pouring water in faster than most of us can imagine, and then every few minutes that added pressure caused by a 415 load of water being dumped onto it. Any thoughts?
