9200 Reasons/Posts
9200 Reasons/Posts :
9200 is the number of reasons I would never fly with . . or waste my time giving him money for his bull s**t Training program.
I for one am tired of you ruining this training forum and filling it with inappropriate, disrespectful and arrogant posts.
I can't believe that any young pilot in their right mind would want to sit in an airplane with you and waste their time learning from you. You think your 60 plus years of flying have made you Gods Gift to Aviation, when in fact you are Gods Joke of Aviation and you have posted 9200 of them.
You don't deserve to have the right to teach any young person the gift of aviation and poison them with your negativity. Whether your experiences with TC have been absolute bogus and they have screwed you beyond belief, it just shows what kind of person you are and that you are not man enough to rise above, strive forward and move on.
If you want to post your B.S. comments go do it in the Miscellaneous Section, that’s all your comments are good for. Not one productive thing ever comes out of your posts for young aviation enthusiast to read and learn from.
Until you start posting productive, informative and POSITIVE posts you should not be allowed to post here. "This forum has been developed to discuss flight instruction/University and College programs" What current and relevant information do you have for the 100's of students reading this forum......very little, if any.
I would be entertained for you to educate yourself about the current College and University programs in Canada and what they have to offer and provide.
I challenge you to make a few - say 20 posts - of productive posts for people to read and benefit from. In those 20 posts you cannot mention TC in a negative manner or talk down about any aspect of aviation. My guess is that you don't last 5, or you don't even man up and take the challenge and if you do, I bet you have to hit the backspace ten times more than you do letters forward.
The whole point is Cat, get out of a forum that is meant to be positive and beneficial, all you are is a black mark on AvCanada. This Forum should be used as a positive and informative Medium and you do nothing but provide the opposite.

Re: 9200 Reasons/Posts
O.K. I will try and describe how I teach correct height judgement for the flare and height judgment after the flare.
First the flare:
I use a definiable point on the runway as the flare point, usually the first big hash marks and runway numbers. This is the aim point on final, during the last fifty feet in a small airplane the aim point will start to grow in size and also appear to spread out in your vision, at about twenty feet the picture will become quite clear that you are about to fly into the runway. It is at this point that I start the flare with most light bug smashers.
Note:
Rather than describe to the student what I am seeing I have them memorize what they observe at the flare point, this avoids any misunderstanding of what I am trying to describe. By using this method the student will quickly imprint the picture that she / he is seeing.
Once the flare is started you then look straight ahead down the runway to the point where apparent movement of the runway markers stop.
What is................... " Apparent movement of the runway " ..........
There is a point ahead of the airplane where the eye will pick up the movement of the runway towards the airplane. This point will change with the speed of the airplane.
For little Bug Smashers that approach in the 50 to 70 knot speed envelope the apparent movement of the runway,,, runway marks, will be approximately five hundred feet ahead of the airplane.
That is the distance ahead of the airplane that your center of sight should be aimed at. This will give you the proper picture that will allow you to best judge height.
The reason that this works is you can "see" the runway get closer in your peripheral vision as the runway movement close to the airplane changes. Also you can "see" the far end of the runway in the top of your peripheral vision, this is your attitude guide that allows you to change the attitude as speed and lift decays.
Ideally the airplane should contact the runway in the attitude that the stall occurs. ( Except wheel landings in taildraggers. )
If the nose blocks out your view ahead as you increase the nose up attitude during the hold off all you need do is move your head and sight line to the side and look along the side nose at the runway still using the same distance ahead that gives the picture that you need. Where apparent movement stops.
Note as you slow down the runway movement picture moves progressively closer. ( About three to five hundred feet ahead is just about right at touch down.
I have an excellent movie that was taken at Airbus Industries during my A320 training and I use it when describing what to look for when determining where the apparent runway movement stops. The beauty of the movie is I can stop it and show the point on the runway where this occurs, then start it up again.
Also the movie is perfect for the flare picture, the A320 approaches at a higher speed than a light aircraft but the picture remains the same when looking at the flare point, it just happens faster. ( oh by the way you don't actually flare an A320 like you do a Bug Smasher but the height judgement is the same. ( aided by the computer voice giving you exact height. )
I am willing to keep answering any and all questions about how I teach height and speed judgment, all I wish to do is make flying safer and easier for those who fly for the love of it.
My system works because I have been perfecting it for fifty years and I used to teach crop dusting where if you do not know how to accurately judge height and speed you die.
So if you all want me to keep explaining my method I am willing to type until everyone understands how I do it.
By the way:::
I use a camcorder for all my advanced flight training, when the student fu.ks up it is easy to review it right after the flight and explain where it started to go wrong and how to prevent repeating the fu.k up.

at least he's not a bully. this is a public forum, people can say what they want, its like TV, you dont wanna hear about it, dont read it, YOU have the choice. we dont live in china or russia. You re-register to make one post, to bash and defame someone. why not just post your message under your regular avcanada name?.... thats kinda gutless.

Bravo Zulu Cat.
Considering the " value " of a lot of the free advice this forum offers/spews on a regular basis, that kind of stuff is easily worth sitting through a rant or two.
Looking forward to more of the same,

I especially got a kick out of this bit:
Rather than fu.k around with this guy who thinks I need to rise above my dismal status in aviation I am posting a short bit from the last letter I received from my employer in the Greek HCAA.......
So there you go TiredofCat.com.
Over to you.......

This spring I will be sitting at the table as an advisor on the rewriting of the rules and regulations in Europe as the countries blend into the EASA oversight of Aviation.Whether your experiences with TC have been absolute bogus and they have screwed you beyond belief, it just shows what kind of person you are and that you are not man enough to rise above, strive forward and move on.

I normally do not post my personal correspondence on Avcanada but I believe in this case it will not only respond to the snotty comment this guy made but give everyone the opportunity to ponder over the simple fact that win lose or draw, if TCCA sends a representative to this meeting in Athens the TCCA official will have no choice except to respect my position as an employee of a foreign government's regulatory body.Speakers may come mainly from Canada and U.A, Audience will come from Greek Civil Aviation, but also from EASA and JAA as well.
You will be of course a central person in the speakers board, but you may come some days earlier (or stay longer) to have the opportunity of private contacts here in Athens.
Best regards.

Well he isn't at 9200 yet, and even if he made those 20 special posts you request then it would still only be 9180 posts that annoyed you... would it not? *just curious*

Another slow day so far so thought I'd get some more education.
By the way TiredofCat.com what did you think of my post on how to land, was that a positive post.
If you liked it I will write one on how to advance beyond the dreaded 5 knot X/wind.
Just for you college top guns.
Ahhhh that is what I need...go to one of these high tech college's and learn how to write correct English......is that why so many of you top guns fly so poorly, you fly like you write?
I would be entertained for you to educate yourself about the current College and University programs in Canada and what they have to offer and provide.

How come a 5 knot crosswind is such a recurring theme on this forum? I see it brought up a lot, but I never quite understood why...If you liked it I will write one on how to advance beyond the dreaded 5 knot X/wind.
I don't know, personally, I didn't get the impression that this person was from a college or a university, I thought he/she was just speaking of institutions that teach flying in general. Of course, that doesn't make the way in which he/she posted any better...it's an open forum, and people can say whatever they like. I just think using their actual account would have been more appropriate...or rather, less inappropriate

Some pilots with 490 hours are far better pilots than some with 5490 hours because they just take to flying like a bird whereas some pilots are just robots.
Don't forget to keep getting laid as often as possible because that keeps your mind clear to concentrate on flying.

Hey Cat,

Otherwise, I'm quite enjoying this... Can't wait for I Hate . to post again, this is a real page turner.

Why would I want this removed STL?
What better entertainment could we get sitting waiting for spring.
Hopefully he will jump back in the discussion especially in that I went out of my way to grant his request that I post something positive and useful.
Hell one of these college top guns should be able to out think a tired worn out old Cat like me.

STL I love these chances to exchange ideas and respond to peoples problems, reading the post by TiredofCat.com the guy has problems.
So I'm going to try and educate him.
Did you like my response to this bit?
Maybe I should get a top position in TCCA when I'm through in Europe?
Do you think that would compel TiredofCat.com to cut me some slack on the rising above my misfortunes?

Personal attacks are not the way to go about voicing one's opinion, and there is a policy of "naming names" in the forum rules, just in this case well all know who Cat is.... Reading the first post, this thread has the potential to go downhill fast, depending on Cat Hater's second post. It is also his first post on the forum, very obviously under a new handle, there's no place for that. You got an axe to grind, at least have the balls to use your regular handle.
Thanks to a PM, I pretty much know who this user is, along with his other handles.
. doesn't need defended by anyone, and if you look back through my posts, we've had our debates/arguments in the past - that's why this forum is here. But doing that maliciously is not acceptable, regardless of how well the individual in question is able to defend him/herself.
I would post the same question to you, were you the subject of this thread. Frankly, I too am curious to see where this goes, if Cat Hater steps up to the plate and presents an argument, not a rant.
