Ontario Air Ambulance chopper crash
Terrible night for medevacing in Ontario.
Canadian S-76 down near Earlton. 5 onboard, all survived but extensive injuries. a/c totaled. No word on why it went down. Nothing in CADORS yet.
Thoughts are with the crew and families for a speedy recovery.

From a former 796'er, my hopes for a speedy recover and thoughts are with you.
Re: Ontario Air Ambulance chopper crash
Can someone PM the crew, specifically the paramedics. I worked with a few of them. Where was the chopper based?

The chopper was based out of Sudbury. 4 people on board- 2 medics, 2 pilots.
200 ft up they lost power, landed in trees.
One pilot walked away, one medic was treated and quickly released.
The other medic has a lower spine fracture but is still wiggling his toes and has been taken down to Sunnybrooke. The other pilot has a chest injury requiring a chest tube but stable enough to stay in Sudbury.

I can't guarantee this info is 100% correct, just what I have heard from various medics and nurses. I am glad that all seem ok and should make full recoveries.

Re: Ontario Air Ambulance chopper crash
I just got a very reliable update, some of my previous info was incorrect. I do have names, but i'm not posting those here.
One pilot has a chest tube and was flown to Sudbury and is currently in hospital here.
One medic was treated and released with rib injuries.
Other pilot has a lower back fracture WITH deficits, underwent emergency surgery at Sunnybrooke in an attempt to regain use of his legs. He was up and walking today unknown to me if any deficit remains.
Other medic has a unstable lower back fracture, with NO deficits. Undergoing surgery tomorrow to stabilize.
