I just resigned, but now have a question regarding payment.

Post by 1sttimer »

I just recently resigned with JAzz and am wondering what the deal is with uniforms. I only worked there for 4 months after somthing came along that I couldn't turn down so I bailed. I am now looking at my last two weeks severance pay and I have over $1000 deducted for uniforms. I think there may be a problem with this, I was under the impression if you leave a company in that short a period you were not required to pay for the uniform...maybe I am wrong, can anyone shed some light. Also is there anything else I should no about in regards to labour law and req'd pay. Any helpful input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I was under the impression that if you left before a year, you were on the hook for the total amount.

Check Section 14-2.05 in the contract.

If you leave in the first two years you are on the hook for the whole thing...not just the 50%.

You have to pay for the uniform, sorry.

But look at the bright side, you got the sweetest Halloween costume and you didn't even have to buy the hat. :smt040

Sucks to be you. Too bad they didn't nail you for your training costs on top of that!!! Although people like you are costing Jazz alot of coin, in the end, you may be the best thing that could have happened to the airline from the perspective of the guys that are staying. Jazz is not going to be able to keep supplying "other" airlines forever so eventually they are going to have to make the pot sweet enough to keep folks around.

Hey, I hope you ordered the parka to run up a thousand dollar bill. I hear its pretty comfy and warm enough to shovel the driveway with. I can't imagine wearing the trench coat after leaving Jazz. I feel creepy enough wearing it out to dinner on overnights.

got the parka a few month before leaving, to clean my allowance, the VF lady had a hard time figuring out why I wanted the parka in June.....used it all winter at home and the cottage, great to go snowshoeing in the bush.... since I'll never go to Sept Iles or Wabush again... not even Timmins.

looks like the uniform payment is the training allowance. Yup, you better take the parka and socks and gloves etc... get as much as you can! enjoy waiting for the pot to sweeten.

Great attitude.......

How many years do you think you will be in the right seat at Team Teal?

Give up?

Judging by your comments, probably a lot longer than others..
