My dad wants, well after having persuaded him to take an intro flight, I think he got the flying needle stuck up his veins, and now it is all that he is raving about. The thing here, is that, albeit he is in fairly, actually amazing shape, I was wondering if there are any smokers here that are pilots. Maybe give me an insight on how you manage the smoking habit with the regulations on a plane. Now we all understand ourselves that smoking in a bathroom is not the solution, that is if your plane is equipped with one.

How do smokers do it? They smoke before their flight and they smoke after their flight, quite a simple science.
edited for being a little to harsh

Well I used to be a smoker. No problems really, you get use to having long breaks between smokes. The thing is that I use to spend all the spare time trying to sneak one between flights, the hassels of going through security. I'd spend all my time trying to figure out when I'd have my next smoke and then if I couldn't, I'd get pissed off, so I quit. I got sick of playing that game.
Cheers

Most airports (I believe) in Canada are banning smoking in the terminal. So no smoking lounges.. Now if they could only ban people from standing in front of doorways puffing away..............

There shall be no smoking within 8 hours of flight departure, and positively no drinking within 50 feet of the aircraft.
That is all, carry on.

When I was working up north it wasn't that hard to sneak a smoke between flights, in the Airlines its almost impossible now without a huge headache... My advise is to read the book Allen Carrs easy way to quit smoking and be done with it!
