Just got back from a short vacation in Cuba. Flew out of YWG on Sun Wing. Great service! Free champaign to "toast your vacation" on the way south. Full meal service. Hot towels. Free wine with dinner. The whole "nine yards"! I know everybody rants about how good WestJet is...but these guys were good! Bravo Sun Wing!

Glad you had a good experience Doc. But I sure didnt. They screwed around with are return times and caused us alot of unecessary grief. I'll never take them again. and the wine sucked!

Actually it was a fantastic vacation. Great resort. The only low point was sungwing.

Our flight south was an hour late....bloody snow storm in YXU. Trip home was almost an hour early....yes, I said EARLY!! And CP, these are charter flights. You have to learn to be patient!

Pretty simple explanation there CP. Folks happy with a service don't usually bother to log on to sites like that. They're mainly there for whiners! I know when I researched resorts, there were a hell of a lot more negative comments than positive ones. Including the one we went to. People tend to harbor unrealistic expectations. Like fabulous meals in Cuba? Want that? Go to Barbados. Or Paris?
All I DO know, is these guys offered a service nobody else offers. Service. The wine was probably NOT 400$ a bottle, that was pretty much the price of the whole trip.
I've been crammed like cattle, into airplanes by Transat. Had my luggage lost by Air Canada. Been told very old jokes by WestJet....but I haven't been served an in flight meal (on a charter) for a very long time!

Don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying you didn't have a bad experience.....just, that I had a good one.

Yes I am sure that sunwing and all the rest of them enjoy working with delayed flight and I am sure they sit around wondering how the can piss you off.
Delays happen all the time sport.
It can be winter weather or a loader running into a plane taking it out of service for a few days.
These and other ideas are thought up all the time just to make your day.
Glad you can look at at the big picture.

Doc: If that is an ideal trip for you, you should consider taking your next flight with one of Canada's northern carriers. That is considered normal operations for some, and has been for the last couple years.

Good to hear Doc, I took skyservice in January to Cancun and also had a great flight.

They served us a small hot meal on both the flight there and the flight home, service was awesome, the only down fall of the flight is that I am 5'8" and my knees were touching the seat in front of me.

Check out the better business bureau file on Sunwing Vacations. Then have a look at Westjet or Air Transat for comparison.

Air Canada has a similar BBB record to Sunwing, so there is a good representation of the service you will receive from Sunwing.

I think expectations have been driven up so high and airlines have been driving down services (due to costs) that when an airline provides the basics 'as it would be considered 10 years ago' people say wow !

It's a good airline though !

it's too bad that First Air and CDN North don't go anywhere warm or tropical - that service rocks. Glad to hear you enjoyed your flight, Doc, but if you ever want to eat a feast, fly North! The same kind of service, but way way better with vino and special coffees (hot cookies, too if i recall...yummmmmmmm) in a 1.5 hour flight YEG-YZF and in a 2.5 hour flight YOW - YFB - yeah, i know, you don't want to go there for your get away vacation...

Flyinhigh... we flew Sunwing, too and you think YOUR knees hit the seats? HA!!!!! i lost circulation in my legs. and so did J! ow ow ow... i needed a shoe horn to get us out of the seats. i am sore just thinking about it and CAN'T fly them again knowing i will be in discomfort for 4 hours after my 'relaxing vacation'.. wahhhhh....

You either give your passengers leg room. Or turn a very slight profit. You can't do both. If you want lots of room, fly Air Canada business class, and take out a second mortgage to buy the tickets with.
