met some canadian pilots last time, told me it is hard, and very cold to work in canada as a pilot.
they dont pay, and many are forced to leave and work in africa where salaries are 3 times higher.

for how long people in developed countries will continue to make fun of their pilots?.
I can not belive than some african countries offer a better life style than in europe or canada....but it is true.

i heared some US pilots not wanting to join US airlines, prefer to fly bush...
if these regionals airlines were not making fun of us, pilots, maybe they would find more pilots and would stop shouting to everywhere that there is a pilot shortage.
if there was a pilot shortage, salaries will increase.

in fact salaries increase in Africa...

Canada is a pretty good place to fly, once you have some experience. Low timers get low pay, which is hard to take after spending $40,000 or more for a licence. At least we don't have suicide bombers, donkey rapists, and genocide here.

how about we get the whiners go go back and take grade 12 economics and review the supply/demand curve before they're allowed to bitch again. The bottom line is, like it or not, there's flying schools lying to students, and they're putting out commercial pilots like puppy mills. There's more inexperienced pilots than there are low-time jobs, so employers get away with paying crap for newbies. Pretty simple stuff, even for a guy who got a b- in economics 30.

I dont know where your from or where you've been, but after flying commercially in EVERY African country except for Mali and Sudan, (and for example a ZS-registered LET-410 pilots there make 3000-4000USD net a month there, not much in a war zone eh?!) I have never made more money flying a Van over there then out here. Sorry mate but your talking bollox

You wanna point out a time when the bottomfeeders WEREN'T getting shite pay? And I see flight schools having a TON of trouble keeping instructors around while they get scooped up by airlines, and that would give the impression that they're having trouble filling these jobs. Wouldn't you agree?

Canada is a country, Africa is a continent, but they both have their extreems Canada has Shamattawa and Ottawa...African countries can match both of those in spades.

Twotterdriver has it right, I also have flown in around 25 different countries in Africa and never saw any real high pay scales unless you are flying contraband or arms.....that can pay good money.....we also made good money but we were doing specalized work including flying inwar zones.

ok, I read that 4 times, and still not sure what point you are making. Could you elaborate? I don't know of any low-time instructors getting hired at WJ or AC.

The responses to these threads always make me laugh a little.

You guys don't get to bitch, complain, whine, and then sit on you hands and do nothing about working conditions/salary, and THEN turn around a start defending it all when someone says something disparaging about it... wtf is with that anyway? My vote is a collective Stolkholm Syndrome... But what do I know?

This is exactly why we are in the state we are at the moment, everyone automatically leap's to the defence of whatever THEY happen to be in involved in. Some day, WAY in the future, pilots in Canada will start looking beyond the end of their own noses only to find a great big world out there - one that treats and pays WAY better than our own.

I'm in Europe right now, talking to all kinds of pilots, but I won't relay too much of it as most of you would jump off the nearest bridge I'm sure.

It's true that the aviation industry in Canada is tough but not because of the weather but due to the fact that there are some psychopaths posing as air operators. Cold weather is something you can get used to. Dealing with empty promises and outright lies - you cannot.
