Umm, yeah, like the rampies don't turf the bags in YYC from the Teal team.....
But, you were just tryin' to be, like, totally, funny right??
I would toss those darn bags too, that is what they are: BAGGAGE.

And it was posted months ago. But this time I can't be bothered to search for and post the link.
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
Yes this is what really happens, and in response to the teal team comment i used to work on the ramp for westjet, outsourced contractor and they are quite adamant about peoples luggage being treated properly.
And sorry I am new to this forum, and just realised yes this was already posted. It was emailed to me from a friend at work.

Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
Sorry Dave but I've witnessed bags being thrown in the same manner as the video by your team many times at different stations. It was bad enough to catch my eye. You guys will never learn. What do you expect from uneducated labour? It's an industry standard pal. To tell you the truth I've seen much worse than your video by other companies. Thought you were on to something eh? Nice try.
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
I'm sure every company is quite adamant, doesn't mean it happens. If you did, good for you but your the first!!Davecameron77 wrote:Yes this is what really happens, and in response to the teal team comment i used to work on the ramp for westjet, outsourced contractor and they are quite adamant about peoples luggage being treated properly.

Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
Not even a good amateur try.
Take a closer look, it’s not even an AC tug or Canadian station but I digress….
Hey Dave isn’t that you in the video? WJ would be proud,not...
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
It is a big red maple leaf on the back of that cart, and the area in question is next to gate C53, I work for the Airport Authority at YVR and see it everyday, thank you for calling me a liar though.
I apologize if this sounds like a cheap shot, but working at YVR with friends at Handlex, Penaulle Serviceair, and the airport authority, everybody tends to develop this attitude towards AC ground handling. Don't get me wrong, I have friends there, some of them lazy, some that work. Point being over half of AC's ground crews have the grumpy/bitter its not my problem its yours attitude, and all the other companies hate dealing with them.
In terms of ground handling everywhere having this issue, I agree, every company has a few folks like that, it’s just my experience at AC YVR base almost all are like that.
Guess I'm not perfect, but a lot of friends at YVR found this hilarious thought others would as well.

Look Dave,
I worked the ramp for 8 years, I've seen and visited operations for many different airlines, all over the country and the US.
Every ramp company does this to passenger bags, including WestJet and every other airline on the planet
If ramp handles cradled everyones bags like an eggshell you'd never get the turnaround times that you do.

Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
I worked ramp for a year in the north and this is normal.
Maybe 2 of 20 bags gets roughly tossed, if you want bags to be gently placed then get ready for serious flight delays becuase there aren't enough staff to handle it.
Seriously. This guy isn't THAT rough is he?? I didn't think so. Maybe more of you folks need to try tossing bags before judging the toss?!?

I apologize for the offense i have caused, perhaps this post should be deleted. My original thoughts were innocent enough but things have been twisted. I am not making accusations or promoting westjet, I was simply defending accusations directed at me.

Hey Dave don’t you even know the difference between a tug and a cart? At the end of the video the tug is a white truck. Only contract companies use that type of white truck. If that is an AC cart why is a contract company using it? Please let us know so that we can send them a bill for its use.
Hmm so you now claim to work for the YVRAPA, are they aware that you’re posting what you claim is a YVR ramp security tape on the web?
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
I don't fly for either airline, but I think this was a cheap shot in general. Also in my opinion and if that was me, I wouldn't be smiling either. For the record I've flown WJ from YYC-YYZ and noticed that every piece of plastic/metal was either bent or broken in my suitcase. The handle for me to pull my suitcase moved freely and you could/can hear pieces breaking apart. You'd have to not have a brain to know this kind of baggage handling doesn't exist with any company if they require to meet proper departure times and/or pressures from the company. Cheers.
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
Oh, poor, poor Davie......
Seems to me, you got your little attitude served to you "right upside your head"..
Tell you what, give me your real name and address, in YVR, and I will send you a little pillow with pictures of little butterflies on it. Then, after your "big day" at YVR, you can lay your tired little head on it.
I will also send you a big box of "Man-size" Kleenex to wipe your tears away. YVR is, after all, a very scary place to be....I don't know how you deal with it..

I do not think he is being super rough with the bags but he definitely is intentionally throwing them. I personally would be more concerned about how slow he is going than how rough he is being.

As poorly as he's treating those bags it's still way better than I'm normally treated by AC ticket agents.
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
I have to agree with inverted on that one. Every bags gets tossed! I will never forget about those lousy globe ground guys who were playing soccer with some West Jet bags. They would kick some across the bag room!Every ramp company does this to passenger bags, including WestJet and every other airline on the planet
Asking a pilot about what he thinks of Transport Canada, is like asking a fire hydrant what does he think about dogs.
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
I really didnt want to do this rebel but you have now pissed me off.
First post "this wasn't a canadian base, and not an AC cart," now it is an AC cart but you don't think its an AC truck. Not to sure what base it is. Get youre story straight if you are going to call somebody a liar.
I work for a company that is contracted to the airport authority, I never claimed this was a security tape, I have access to the security sytem here and have never seen that camera angle, it appears to filmed by amateur.
You should think long and hard before posting again and trying to insult somebody's integrity.
And this post was never intented to be about how the bags were being treated, it was simply a funny video, ditto for the soundtrack. It was other people who jumped on that conclusion.

"What do you expect from uneducated labour"
While I can only speak for the AC YVR Ramp base, you'd be surprised at the average education level our average ramp rats have. For the most part they are an extremely diverse and well educated (University Degrees, Doctorates, etc.) group. A lot of these guys/gals have way more education in their back pocket than the pilots they are waving in. I don't think the "education level" has too much to do with the problem in this case.
I can appreciate the strong opinions on this matter. No customers property "should" be treated like this...unfortunately many are, in all stations, by all airlines. This just happens to be AC in YVR.

Dave now you claim to have integrity? Really, what’s next? What happened to being employed by the YVR Airport Authority? You don’t even know the difference between a cart and a tug or whom you work for, so how could you indentify an AC tug.Davecameron77 wrote:I really didnt want to do this rebel but you have now pissed me off.

Earlier you claimed you look out at the video gate everyday but now you don’t know where/how the tape was made. But you claim to have access to security tapes. I didn’t realize YVR security was so lax. Hey genius the security rules apply to everyone but I digress.
Wow now you’re pissed off. Are you sure about that? I haven’t had such a good laugh in a long time.
Hmm I wonder if the Airport Authority is laughing
Re: I'd post this in the AC forum but.....
Dear Rebel,
How do you come to believe I dont know how to identify between a cart and a tug of whom I work for. Another ASSumption made by yourself, like you inability to identify a canadian base, inability to identify air canada equipment, inability to read at a grade 5 level and extract correct information from a paragraph.
Working for a contractor for the airport authority is much the same thing as "working for bc ferries/working for the government"
I would love to say it was a pleasure to have made your Acquaintance, but I'm not sure youre reading comprehension could understand that.
Have a nice day, and no that is not a 1996 ford bronco you just saw land it was an airplane, might want to get the eyes checked as well.

What does what I do have anything to do with security rules, and where does "Hey genius the security rules apply to everyone but I digress" mean, how is that even a sentence.Earlier you claimed you look out at the video gate everyday but now you don’t know where/how the tape was made.
