Either that or the fan favourite, dual VORs. Nothing like working the nobbi4 arrival into New York Arrivals airspace with two VOR's and a copilot who's never flown IFR before. Oh yah, and a map which makes the dead sea scrolls look mint.

Are you serious about dual VOR in New York airspace? Well; it is possible, but...

yeah you almost need a navigator on those flights, one guy to hand fly because you have no autopilot, one guy to work the busy ATC frequencies and one guy to tune VOR frequencies and set course bars!endless wrote:Either that or the fan favourite, dual VORs. Thanks for the cold shiver endless.endless wrote:Either that or the fan favourite, dual VORs. Nothing like working the nobbi4 arrival into New York Arrivals airspace with two VOR's and a copilot who's never flown IFR before. Oh yah, and a map which makes the dead sea scrolls look mint.
And yes it's true.
And for real fun, add in a hot as hell day with the Ford F-150 air conditioner that was made for a King Air 200 cabin that couldn't cool the cabin even if you were hauling ice. Throw in a few thuderstorms in the American North East that are real good at shutting down airspace leaving you waiting in a line of 15 and about 2 hours to blast off.
Then for a real laugh wait until a couple of the US Airways 1900 connector guys come have a look at your rig and marvel at an 11 in 14 chance of having a bathroom and gps and 1 in 7 chance you have a autopilot. Sweet Deal as they say!
By the way KLN90B's rock. They're not Garmin 430's as they are 10-15 years older but their isn't much you can't do with them.
It's better to break ground and head into the wind than to break wind and head into the ground.

I do KHPN a lot, never had a 70s series going in there. It usually ends up being vectored anyway.endless wrote:Either that or the fan favourite, dual VORs. Nothing like working the nobbi4 arrival into New York Arrivals airspace with two VOR's

Did you tell the US Connecter guys that once in a while you find a little extra something special in the seat back on the birds without lavs???
ho ho ho merry christmas

You're lucky then. Twice in one month for me.C-GPFG wrote:I do KHPN a lot, never had a 70s series going in there. vectored? I certainly don't remember a lot of that happening on that arrival before you get below 5000' or so.

Cardboard executives are the way to go...they're like real executives. They show up whenever the f#ck they want, they never do what you ask em' to, they lie about their weight and if you get tired you can make a cozy bed out of them...ok three out of four ain't bad. Unless you need a rolley bag and a layover just long enough to hit the local Aldo for some good shoe shopping and eye candy, flying cardboard executives is the donkey's overcoat.

Believe it or not I don't think I ever had a problem with the yaw damp. I'm pretty sure both the yaw damp and rudder boost could be deferred too. There was 2 computers though, so I think that every time one failed you could just transfer the logic to the second one and it would work. I can remember flying with guys who would fly way out of trim. The yaw damp would let go at some random moment and you'd think you'd just lost the engine. Usually the guys figured out the trim thing after having that happen.Dockjock wrote:Don't forget prop sync and yaw damp inop too. Barf city

Me either. I never turn it ON. Our Hunnies fly better without the YD.Endless wrote:Believe it or not I don't think I ever had a problem with the yaw damp.
The Hunny doesn't have Rudder Boost and the YD can be MELed without restriction. Different story for the 200, altitude restrictions with the YD inop.endless wrote:I'm pretty sure both the yaw damp and rudder boost could be deferred too.
