Flt Deck Cleanliness
Those of you who fly the newer machines may not have noticed it too much but the rest of us have been working in an unacceptable, filthy environment to say the least. Finally, the company is taking measures to clean it up. Let's now do our best to keep it clean. Keep the cookie crumbs off my seat and off the centre console!!

Reminds me of an interesting conversation with WJ maintance, he was pissed because a pilot spilled his coffee all over the CDU twice in one week.
Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
I don't work for Air Canada but I agree that it can be nasty getting into a dirty flight deck. I know that some stuff is unavoidable but a lot is. People just need to be a little more careful while they're eating and take a look for garbage and their junk before they leave.
Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
Right on Tony,
Also:
-remove your used water bottles
-remove your used garbage bag
-remove used napkins from your crew meals that some seem to always put in the side storage next to the seat
-those of you that remove the company issued headset to use your own for heaven's sake when you leave the aircraft connect the company headset back into place for those of us that need it.
-remove you old paperwork:ATIS,fuel slips,PDC'S,Hazmat sheet and all other crap that we don't need to pick up for you.
-last but not least when you see that the roll of datalink is finished take 30 seconds of your time to change it.It's called courtesy.
Seems that some of us where not tought common courtesy and cleanliness.
Thank you

Only punish massive farts if you're sure that I'm in the back shooting the shit and will be there until there's no chance that I'm going to walk into your wall of Zyklon B.

Wow,
no disrespect but I feel that I just opened up a thread to a kindergarten lecture. I mean, I whole heartedly agree, don't get me wrong, and finally....

someone else feels my pain here! But to have to bring it up on a forum and reiterate habits that should've been taught to you when you were a kid, my god, if that's not any indication to the testament of what a sad bunch of professionals we truly are than I don't know what is.......those of you that remove the company issued headset to use your own for heaven's sake when you leave the aircraft connect the company headset back into place for those of us that need it.

TFE731.
Sorry dude, didn't mean to make you feel whatever it is you feel. I thought this was one way to reach my colleagues as well as the other forums. The company is good enough to clean up our flt decks, we should do our best to keep it clean. Shouldn't have to tell anyone to do this but most of the dirt is man made.
Endless.
I usually turn the gaspers on full blast in that scenario.

Sorry about leaving my condoms and girly mags behind.... I meant to pack them with me, but if you are done with the mags can you drop them off in my mailbox??
Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
Pilots should leave the flight deck tidy as a matter of courtesy to the other pilots and engineers who work there.
Maintenance should periodically clean the flight deck as a matter of safety, reliability, and longevity.

Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
Very interesting to read that this occurs on the "industry flight decks" as well. I thought this was just a miltary problem. The flight decks on our C-130s are usually a stinking mess from the last, lazy, slob-like crew that flew right before the hand over.
Interesting thread - and here I thought this didn't happen on the other side of the fence.
Misery loves company .................

Hhhmmm, is this thing on?
Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
Given that pilots have to eat on the job, extra care should be given to the flight deck by cleaning crews, a matter of hygiene and safety.... now if mtce could avoid the speed tape to fix broken trims in the flight deck they would look better...and if crews could be more careful..... ok I'm asking for to much....

Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
A little off topic...(but that's never stopped me before!)
But I've heard of a guy who strips down to his gym gear IN THE FLIGHT DECK, and has a little workout routine he likes to do in the NG!
Yeah Baby!

I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...

it was an effort to pick up the female FO.
pretty pathetic if you ask me, if the story is true... IF the story is true.

what? if you guys have a problem with me just AQD it. No need for this useless internet slaming.......and yes, the story is true.
Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
We have the same thread on the WJPA website. I've had a few beauties... like a bag of fruit that had almost turned to wine in the side pocket. I've also found a mouldy sandwich under the seat that was the source of a stink. Half coffees annd banana peels left on the O2 mask! I think its a problem everywhere and Tony's thread aboviously applies outside of AC. It's a nasty habit by too many people.

I think that, by far, the worst i've seen is "skid marks" on the co-pilots seat. Dis-gusting!

That's only because the f/o seat anti-skid system was MEL'd inoperative. Sorry about that... sometimes my landings scare me too.Four1oh wrote:OMFG! I really did just LOL! Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
Practical joke or not, I shit you not (no pun intended). I'm assuming a piece of chocolate fell between the legs and slowly made its way back to the "economy class". I didn't, and refused to, do the coveted scratch and sniff test.Four1oh wrote:OMFG! I really did just LOL! Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
As we were saying goodnight to the folks in LAX the In-charge and myself saw what appeared to be a chocolate in the middle of the aisle. Unfortunately, it was not a chocolate but a large dookie that someone had stepped in and tracked out the door and half way up the jetway. My best guess was that it was from the passenger that was juggling an infant in one arm, baby bag in the other and an open dirty diaper that was partly open to allow the dookie to escape.... glad I didn't sniff it to make sure it wasn't chocolate. Still curious as to what they were feeding such a small infant to produce such a large dookie.

Re: Flt Deck Cleanliness
The dirtiest one I have come across (not at AC), but someone left an empty sardine can stuffed behind the OBL. (obviously as a joke), but it got snagged because flight crews were unable to locate the source of the stench...
I always spend a few minutes with the alcohol wipes and static wipes cleaning the console, and screens. Crossing the seat-belts (ie: in the flight deck, not in the pax cabin..
)after you jump out also helps when the next guy goes to put his brain bag in. As for replacing the headset, fair enough. Sorry boys/girls, I am guilty of that but I will do my best to remember.

That "Buy On Board" is tuff to pass in smaller multiples. But, I advise never sniff brown solids found on carpets, floating in pools, or on the bottom of your Nike.yycflyguy wrote:.. glad I didn't sniff it to make sure it wasn't chocolate.
