Free books to good home.

Post by DEFPOTEC »

Hi everyone! I’ve been reading and posting on this site since summer of 04 and found this site to be very informative and useful, during the early years especially, in finding a job. Do you remember when there would be only one post a week or month on the job board! I wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded to questions or gave advice, it is much appreciated.
I’ve been lucky enough to have been offered a job with Cathay Pacific and will be moving my family to Hong Kong shortly. While getting the house ready to move, I’ve realised that I’ve amassed quite a collection of books over the years! I don’t want to throw them out and I thought the best solution was to offer them back to the community. So I’ve included a list below and if you’re interested, come and take them off my hands. Some of these books may make a good gift for an enthusiast and they are all in great condition. Pm me for my address. Thanks

Private Pilot Manual and exercises by Jeppesen
Guidelines for Cloud Seeding to Augment Precipitation
The Advanced Pilot’s Flight Manual by William Kershner
Information Manual for the 172 Skyhawk
IFR Principles and Practices by Goldstein (this one is from the 70’s)
Pilot Info Manual for the Piper Arrow from UND Aerospace
From the Ground Up Workbook (new)
Operating Manual for the KLN 89/89B GPS
Pilot info Manual for the Piper Seminole from UND Aerospace
Pilot Operating Handbook for the Warrior 3 from UND Aerospace
Human Impacts on Weather and Climate by Cotton and Pielke (it’s got a picture of Flin Flon’s pollution stack on the cover)
Gleim’s (red book) written test prep for the FAA
Instrument pilot
Commercial pilot
Fundamentals of Instructing
Flight/Ground Instructor

Aviation Weather by Gleim
Private Pilot Test Prep 1996/97 by ASA
Airport Administration and Management by John Wiley
Various practical test standards for the FAA flight tests

also, for things that I'm selling, check me out on Craigslist.

I'm located north of Toronto in Markham.

Thanks

Thats a good idea

We could offer our old books for free, The person just pays for shipping, with the understanding that when they are finished with the books they then in turn offer them to the next person for free. Sure would annoy a lot of publishers, and hopefully that nasty C###### would be livid  not that his books are worth anything anyway.

Thanks for all the interest guys...i hadn't thought of the whole pay it forward aviation edition but that's a good idea. For now though, I'm sorry but i can't ship anything anywhere. I'm leaving for Australia tomorrow morning and my wife will be doling out the books but she's too busy with work and our son and packing for the move to start shipping books, sorry.

Bleed air, maybe I'll see you around I've already had a taste of Lan Kwai Fong. I'm on the 777 fleet.

I am in the same scenario and would like to offer more of the same:

- "Flying the Big Jets" by Stanely Stewart (not to be confused with "Handling the Big Jets" different book but still interesting.)
- "Airline Transport Pilot: 2006 Exam Prep Guide" by Sharper Edge
- "Canadian ATPL Notes" by Aerocourse
-" Landing the Big Job: A Canadian Pilot's Career Guide" by Captains X,Y and Z (old but some useful resume building info in it)
- "Instrument Procedure Manual" TC
- "Airline Transport and IATRA: Written Test Book 2004"
- "Preparing for Your Cathay Pacific Interview: The Pilot's Guide 11th edition" by Captains X, Y & Z

Same deal; pay the shipping (or if you live in YYC, come pick it up) and they're yours. I think a pass it on idea is terriffic. DEFPOTEC, see you on the trip7.

Hi guys! DEFPOTEC left for Oz on Friday. Before he left, he gave me whatever is left in the box. I have no clue what is left in the pile. When I have time, I will go over it and list them out. In the mean time, if you find anything you want, PM me and I will see if there is a copy in the box. I am CYKZ based and I can meet you at the Druxy's for pick up.
