Float plane over Shawnigan Lake - I'm envious

Here I am planting 200 hedges in my back yard and for the past two days I have been watching float planes taking off from shawnigan Lake. My life sucks, I wish I could be in that seat.

Busy doing something I hate at the moment. Just getting some bills paid down and then I'm going to pester you for a PPL. Definitely looking for a career change, but seeing as getting into the industry is so friggin hard, I would likely need to take a 30-40 K pay cut just to get in, that is if I could even find a fulltime flying job on the Island.

80-100K... But was making reference to obatining a flying job where I could hopfully squeek 40-50 k out of it. I know I'm dreaming. This is where the hard decisions come into play.

The best way to take a $40,000 cut in your income and fly a float plane is buy a Champ or some other small float plane and fly as much as you want.

That way you will only have to take the loss in money once.

But now comes the good part, when you get tired of flying it you can sell it and get your $40,000 back.

Spent 3 years in Lakes. Haven't been in the same place since for more than 6 months. There's always Pros and Cons. Keep that shovel and $100 000 in hand...

the road is longer than planting another 834,344,546,666,319 trees.... For real.

My advice: Plant a few less trees. Take a holiday.

80-100k you make? your wage varies that much? do you get payed by the hedge you plant? maybe thats why you planted so much. i'll make you a deal. i'll trade you flight training and you get me some work where i can make that much on the south end of the island.. think of it as a job swap.

Actually the tree planting is the wifes assignement, no pay and lots of " its not straight, its not the way the instructions say". ..my other job, where I get the money from is a royal pain in the ass and simply not worth the crap any more. Its funny I was looking at a Canada Taxation web site the other day and with my base pay of 75K I only take home 400 a month more than someone with a base pay of 45K a year. The tax man grabbith. The more ya make the more you pay for social services in society. The only good thing about my job is the 15-25K in OT, but you actually have to show up and do something for that.

I would love to spend the next 5 years obtaining a PPL and CPL and then building some time and when I pull the plug on my current gig then I'll have some options open to me.

And if I could make 80-100 K a year planting hedges, damn I would be all over that.

And if I could make 45-50 k a year flying aplane I would take that before anything else.

Its all fun in the beginning until you take the multiple 14 hour days worked divided into your salary and releize the guy pumping gas makes double your hourly rate!!!
