Wabusk Air
Hey, was just wondering if anybody has information on them? How long it takes for rampies to get a flying positiong and if they hold a good reputation with their employees?

If you're not from the moose and must live there, go about anywhere else in the world, and you'd be happier.

You will fly the hair off your balls in the James Bay coast 1200 hrs a yr once you get off the ramp. If youre lucky you'll get your chance to leave Moose 1ce a yr to see your family who thought you were kidnapped by angry indians in Moose Factory.

Here is some info on Wabusk. Although Moosonee is not the most desirable place to live there are definently worse places that you could end up. To go from Ramp to flight line it is generally 8 months, while getting flight hours while you work the ramp. You will probably get about 200 flight hrs while you are working the ramp. Once you are at 500 you will move into the king air and will be a co-pilot on that for a while. After some turbine time you then become Navajo captain; this takes a little over a year . EDITED

anyone on this forum currently with wabusk or used to be that could send me a PM? their last ad on here for captains seems to look pretty good as far as working conditions (for a northern company)....but after digging up this thread, not so?

VERY well put. I'd pay attention if I were you.
Re: Wabusk Air
Well there ad always says, "expanding" but so far I have yet to see it.
Although if you remember that pilot on the CBC special about Pilot fatigue that ended up becoming a teacher? Well he worked for this company in Moosonee! Just a hint if you still want to "give it a try".
Good luck in the hunt!

Re: Wabusk Air
I can't say for sure what they pay but I can say that when they were looking for a king air captain last winter for a short term contract I sent them an email since I just so happened to have a current PPC on a BE90 and was actually seeking a short term contract myself. The response was quick, professional, and positive. And then I was asked what I wanted for pay. When I gave them a number that seemed fair (250 per day), I never heard from them again. Go figure.

My real comments were deleted, so I'll just reiterate what DOC said.Doc wrote:bob sacamano wrote:If you're not from the moose and must live there, go about anywhere else in the world, and you'd be happier.

Wow, that's very low for a contract pilot. It's low for a line pilot.toelessjoe wrote:250 per day

That's what I thought. I do know that if they ever need someone again they can feel free to call. I won't answer, but they can feel free.eightzeroummmseven wrote:Wow, that's very low for a contract pilot. It's low for a line pilot.toelessjoe wrote:250 per day
Re: Wabusk Air
What's reasonable for a contract pilot given that 250 is considered low?
250 x 20 days of work is approximately $5000 dollars for a month. That's way better than what I make... lol
