Hey,just wondering if anyone knows which Island(s) it is that people get those neat photographs from, where you see a B-747 for example flying over someone lying on the beach at like 150ft.?

Is it St.Marten?...hmm

That would indeed be the infamous St. Maarten (TNCM/SXM). The dreamspot of any pilot or aviation nut who loves relaxing and watching planes roar overheard.

Do a search for a video-clip of an Air France '47 taking off from St. Maaaaaarten... jet-blasting a bunch of beached whales back into the surf. Funny as hell.

One nasty take-off I had out of there with the usual easterly breeze was the most turbulent I have had. We must have changed a few seat covers from that flight...not to mention a few other covers may have vanished from the pucker-factor.

Lovely place, TNCM, though.

Cheers,

been there once in the lear, saw the famous Corsair you see in the photos with the lipstick lips and 'SEX' identifier. Definitely a neat approach, and fun airport, especially watching the heavies backtrack after landing and seeing their wings go overtop of people's houses in the residential area as they do the 180!
