Another US airline has added the "first bag charge":

United Matches AA Fee For First Checked Bag

Have there been any rumblings in the Canadian industry as to how much longer its going to be before we start seeing these fees popping up here?

I've been wondering if the charges were implemented if the current average weights used for skychecks will be scrapped. You know people will be bringing more onboard.
The same goes for the second bag charge. If your'e only bringing one bag it's going to be stuffed to the brim to avoid a charge.

Montie has said they're under consideration.

Sean Durfy has said that they are keeping a close eye on it, but said that he wants to avoid doing it for the following reasons

-Its like a "hidden" fuel su-charge
-It would hurt the operation, passengers would check less and try to bring more carry on which could delay flights and make the cabin un-comfortable.

We shall see
