Pilot Layoffs at AC and Jazz
I heard from a source that they will lay off 200 at AC and 245 at Jazz. Anyone know more about this and when?

Are you talking about employees or actual PILOTS?
I find it tough to believe that they need to let that many go.

Its 260 total employees at Jazz, many are from closing YHM and Comox stations and likely some flight attendants. No pilots are expected to be laid off at Jazz. Im getting at least 2 calls per week for overtime so I don't think we are too fat on pilots right now.

Before AC and Jazz layoff, they will reduce everyone's blocking average to around 77 hrs, offer LOAs and early retirement packages. From the sound of it, there are many pilots at both companies interested in LOAs.
At Jazz, we're still losing a few pilots each month. I ran into a few guys leaving for Emirates, Sunwing and CX. We're not losing as many people, but we're still losing some, and hopefully this will help mitigate any potential layoffs.

The important thing to remember when a company announces layoffs, never accept drafts, make up flying or overtime. All you are doing is helping them to lay off pilots, make them cancel flights due to lack of pilots.

if that could be an indicator of lays offs to come it would be great, for instance AC YUL is toooo short of grd crew but they gonna cut them too, and they are very busy on the ramp and in the bag room, so beware.Im getting at least 2 calls per week for overtime so I don't think we are too fat on pilots right now.

Laying off pilots wont do the trick. The lowest of the low ie.Ramp Crews are getting paid twice the amount that the fo's at jazz are making. In order to save money it's not pilots that need to lose jobs, it's the ground crews!!

grd crew starting wage is 10.56/hr
are F/O junior paid that much at jazz ?

and why not having him deliver the flightplan to the AC because lil F/o too tired to get it himself, or bring him a ladder like that lil F/O abble to check ice thickness on wings b4 living, or call him a cab in YQM because lil F/O too tired to get it himself or order him crew meal because lil F/O too lazy to go by himself, and so on...
