Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anybody in the Red Deer area would be interested in going in together on a partnership to buy an airplane. Or if anybody knows of any existing aircraft owners in the Red Deer area who might be interested in taking on a partner or two to reduce expenses.
I'm partially done my PPL, have about 25 hours, and would like an airplane to finish my PPL. I have a freelance instructor lined up in the Red Deer area who will instruct for a reasonable fee. I also have another person possibly interested in a partnership who is also interested in getting his PPL.
I already have an airplane in mind, a 1958 Cessna 172 that would be imported from the US, but I'm open to other suggestions. Here's a link to the plane I've been looking at:

I've got a local AME lined up who is familiar with the importing process who would do the pre-buy inspection. Depending on the number of partners, and the cost of importing, and the cost of repairing anything found on the pre-buy inspection, I would expect the costs to be between $5000 and $10000 per person. We would also set up an account to set aside money for maintenance and engine overhaul. I would plan on running the engine on condition for the time being to keep expenses down.
With 2 or 3 partners we could get some pretty cheap flying compared to renting from the usual channels. This would be ideal for anyone else looking to get their PPL affordably, or licensed pilots looking to build time towards their CPL, or people just looking to fly for fun.
If your interested, or know of anyone that might be, or know of an aircraft owner in the Red Deer area that might be interested in taking on a partner or two, reply to the thread, send me a PM, or send me an email at rengler@live.ca
Thanks
Randy

And here I thought you were another Albertan looking for a date.....
Good idea, though - I have nothing further to contribute, though.
