CMA base info?
hi. can anyone tell me what kind of schedule you guys have out of Smithers & Prince George bases? (i.e. longest multi-day pairing...how many single-day pairings per month on average...etc). curious how many pilots are at each base as well. thanks.
Re: CMA base info?
For both bases:
Five day pairings are longest, NO single day pairings
Expect lots of time away from home. I think lots of single day pairings exist in YVR and YYC.

Re: CMA base info?
thanks man. any idea how many days off per month? any chance you know how many guys/gals live at YXS & YYD bases?
Re: CMA base info?
19 or 20 work days a month, depending on if there is a stat. holiday or not. Not sure how many pilots...in YYD there is one full time capt. one full time FO, and one part time capt and FO. Cma is a great place to work, but it is highly unlikely that a CYYD base will be available.
In CYXS there are maybe 2-4 capts, and 2-4 FO's (apprx. and there needs to be more! lol)

Re: CMA base info?
Is the ramp program at CMA only for the YVR base or does it apply to the others? Is the wait to flight line any different time wise? Does anyone know what the current time to a/c from ramp is?
Any info is great! (Sorry cooter don't want to hijack the thread only add to it!)

Re: CMA base info?
okay. i suspect commuting from smithers would be unlikely then too? thanks for the info.
Re: CMA base info?
There are positions for Low Time Pilots in YVR & YYC on the ramp and dispatching in YYD. The wait time has been around 18-20 months lately from start date to sitting in the airplane. Hope that helps.Freddy_Francis wrote:Is the ramp program at CMA only for the YVR base or does it apply to the others? Is the wait to flight line any different time wise? I know theres alot of CMA bashing on here (it seems no airline is safe from bashing on here) Is this ramp gig an actual so called "ace in the hole" unless your incompetent or have a shitty attitude WILL you get to the a/c? Or are they at the levels of some operators who dangle the carrot?(Doesn't seem like their game) 18-20mths isn't necessarily a short wait but it isn't the longest i've heard either. Im just saying if the industry does go in the shitter again it's not he worst option. How does the low time position work? Is it just work the ramp/dispatch until your number is up or do you attend ground schools or anything? Are you a CMA pilot behdriver? Cause i've met some of you CMA folks up at CYBL and you guys have always been helpful to a young pilot looking for some info so thank you and keep up the good work!
Any info is always appreciated!

I don't think there is much CMA bashing. The only gripe people have with CMA is pay. Otherwise its as close to the airlines as you're going to get without actually being there.
Airline SOP's and mentality. Good stepping stone for sure.
