Single Letter NDB Identifiers

Post by bcrosby »

Just a quick question.

Does Canada still use the single letter identifiers for NDBs?

I'm working with a DAFIF database (rather old data) and discovered that there are 4 NDBs around CYYZ with single letter idents. (R, X, T, and L).

I don't see them on the VNC (and I dont have an IFR chart handy to confirm)

I've attached a screen shot of this information overlayed on top of a google map.

Or are these old fan markers?

YYZ NDBs:

R is now ZTO Woodhill

X is now ZDH Rexdale

T is now ZLP Meadowvale

L is now ZYZ Queensway

BTW- ZLB Brittania is no longer there. It's been replaced by a DME fix on the 06L localizer called VEPNA.
