Cowtown to Vegas for $99??? There's a money maker...
The airline industry lost any self respect years ago, never coming back. Yes, yes, I know. Somebody will point out to me how the $99 fare makes WJ buckets of money...

When you add all of the government/airport fees the $99 each way comes to $302 total for the round trip, which is still pretty good. But even better they have $79 fares from YYC-LAX, which comes to $261 return inc taxes. Cheap flights are here again!

Don't celebrate so soon!
AC started (and all others followed suit) including some or all of the fuel surcharge in the price of the ticket.
It is there, you just don't see it as an additional line. Only taxes and fees will be tagged as "additional charges".
Funny, just when oil goes down and they had to reduce it, you do not see it anymore and can't tell how much are they charging for the surcharge.

CALGARY — Canada’s major airlines are trying to take the sticker shock out of fare purchases by rejigging how the cost of fuel is reflected in the final ticket price.
Air Canada (TSX:AC.B) began the day by announcing it had removed the fuel surcharge, effective Thursday, prompting WestJet Airlines Ltd. (TSX:WJA) to follow by the afternoon.
However, the two rivals took different approaches to their announcements Thursday, with Air Canada also saying it would adjust the base price of its tickets while. WestJet insisted it was simply getting rid of the surcharge.

That's why you always need to compare the price including taxes, and right now it is definitely cheaper than it has been for a long time.
