looking for ame apprentice position

Post by Riverat »

I am wanting to find apprentice job, this spring. I am graduating in april from sait in the a/c maintenance program. I would take anything, but am specifically interested in rotary wing work up north or I guess any work up north rotary or fixed wing, would be considered. I am willing to relocate anywhere, so location is not an issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Sorry to say this but. . .

New apprentices fresh out of school are considered more of a liability than anything else. . . moreso by the helicopter operators than fixed wing.

This is the truth, . .sad but tis so. . .!!

I would suggest that you come up with a decent resume and good cover letter then send to every operator, DOM you are interested in.

A good guide is the Canadian Aviation Business directory which lists all AMOs by name and location and also gives fleet info, fax nos, email etc!!

Cheers!

Yeah, I sort of thought it was going to be that way. When you refer to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year apprentices in your post about ame wages, where does a person like myself fall in? What would I be looking at for a wage, with only the schooling and no actual a/c experience. Also do many northern operators pay any living allowance or remote location pay etc. Which would allow a person to earn more then staying in the south?
thanks again
