CANADIAN AVIATION TIME CAPSULE
I am putting together a Canadian aviation time capsule. It will be opened October 11, 2108.
What I want are artifacts that would best represent the last 100 years of Canadian aviation.
What would you like to put into the capsule?
This is my contribution:
- the propeller from a de havilland Beaver which flew in our north
- a print-out of today's page one of all AV Can forums
- The poem "High Flight" by RCAF pilot John Gillespie Magee
High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings,
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

A copy of the correspondence from the collection agency that TC turns your unpaid $55.00 medical " fees " over to.
Just so they can marvel at how client friendly TCCA was back then.

The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.
After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

A copy of a training bond?
Documentation of the pay-for-PPC scheme?
A collection of rants by Hedley starting with: "No one here will remember this, but..."
And ending with him posting a pic of a large boat.

Re: CANADIAN AVIATION TIME CAPSULE
Forget Cat's rants... stuff him in the capsule. Part of aviation history, and he'll be piss raving mad when they finally open it up and let him out lol.
No trees were harmed in the transmission of this message. However, a rather large number of electrons were temporarily inconvenienced.

Re: CANADIAN AVIATION TIME CAPSULE
Some serious and not so serious:
A piston engine
A GA Plane - Both should be gone in a 100 years
A few gallons of stabilized 100LL for the above so you can have the only lead pollution source
A GPS - I am sure there will be something better by then
Some steam gages
A VHF com
Mode C transponder
121.5 ELT
A complete collection of Charts - I have an entire set of IFR from the previous cycle
A peace of a canvass from a Norsman
A full weather brief from the day put it in the ground
Some sort of copy of the planes Flight Aware is tracking
Do not put anything on CD/DVD or any other electronic format unless you include the necessary hardware to read said format that is going to last 100 years in the ground. BTW DVD-R/CD-R have a shelf life of about 10 years. Something to think about.

Ahhh I wonder how many pilots here have flown an approach using that method?

A few bottles of "Norseman" beer.
I was thinking a pair of "DH" rudder pedals but of course they will still be common in 100 years...
