Risk management
Not starting this as a big discussion topic, just read it and maybe leave it in the back of your mind. We all do different things, fly different airplanes, in lots of different conditions. Variables, yes we have a lot of them.
When I am doing something, or about to do something I try and ask myself one question.
Is what I am doing right now going to affect my ability to drink beer?
If the answer is yes, I strongly advise you to change your current path.

Re: Risk management
Seriously, I ask myself if this decision could result in me becoming a smoking pile 'o' jelly, if the answer is ever even close to maybe I don't do it!!! Plain and simple.

Re: Risk management
Alrighty, the initial decision to strap on an airframe and go hurtling into the sky is a person's first mistake if they live primarily to preserve their own existence. Any time a person's two feet are not in direct contact with the soil surface of the earth, they run the risk of returning to the surface and hitting it really really hard. So now what of this risk management?
