Anyone know about a plane crash at YVR tonight?
There was just a quick blurb on the news about an accident that just happened at YVR and left a large debris trail. Any Vancouverites have any details?

Glad to hear all OK.
Private plane skids off runway upon landing at Vancouver International Airport
1 hour ago
VANCOUVER, B.C. — A private plane with five people aboard skidded off the runway Sunday at Vancouver International Airport as it tried to land, an airport spokeswoman said.
There were no injuries, said airport spokeswoman Rebecca Catley.
Catley said the pilot of the plane that carried four passengers apparently contacted the airport before landing to say there was a problem with the plane's landing gear.
The weather was poor at the time with wind and snow but Catley said it wasn't clear whether the weather was a factor in the malfunction.

Wow....you don't see..."whether the weather....." used correctly very often on this forum. Most posters can't handle.....there, their and they're! Or...here and hear.
Re: Anyone know about a plane crash at YVR tonight?
I think you can give the Canadian Press credit for using the words properly. Glad to hear no injuries though.

Flightaware shows a bunch of YVR aircraft diverting to Victoria or turning around.
Re: Anyone know about a plane crash at YVR tonight?
So, yesterday we have a King Air with gear problems in YWG, and today a private plane with gear problems in YVR? Must be in the water.
That's positive rate.....THEN.....gear up.
That's rape, pillage.....THEN....burn.

Re: Anyone know about a plane crash at YVR tonight?
Just got the word it was a Citation. Glad everyone is ok.
Re: Anyone know about a plane crash at YVR tonight?
Cessna Citation, 4 pax + pilot, all ok, no post-accident fire, a/c was reported to have slid off the side of the runway. Pilot reported gear problems before landing, nose gear either didn't deploy or collapsed on landing. The runway was wet, but not contaminated with snow at the time.
The South Runway (where the "crash" happened) is closed for the night which combined with several cm of completely unexpected snow is screwing up ops here at YVR to the extent that flights are cancelling/diverting across the board.

Re: Anyone know about a plane crash at YVR tonight?
Bit confused here. At http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... da&s_name= an airport spokeswoman identifies the plane as a Citation arriving from Mexico.
However.... Flightaware shows an arrival at the accident time of N161WC ... arriving from Mexico:
http://flightaware.com/live/airport/CYV ... ;sort=DESC
N161WC happens to be a Global Express!

Is it a little strange to shut down an airport with numerous runways for 50 min's post crash?
Re: Anyone know about a plane crash at YVR tonight?
Airport closure unrelated to incident. Was for snow removal, was dumping a ton.

The Global arrived fine, either just before or immediately after the crash.
Airport was closed off and on, they were only left with one runway in the middle of snow-mageddon pt IV so were rotating it closed for snow removal for awhile.
Guess I wont be selling my lift ticket for Mt Agar just yet....

They're having their share of bad weather over there, whether they like it or not.
