Source: Globe & MailSkyservice Airlines Inc., the country's second-largest charter carrier, is cautioning workers about looming layoffs amid the recession. "We know the economic and business realities facing all companies in all industries," Skyservice president Rob Giguère said in a memo to employees. "Skyservice is not immune to those realities, but Skyservice does have an enviable foundation built on solid customer contracts." Still, Mr. Giguère warned that job cuts could affect pilots and cabin crew, noting the privately owned company has learned that one its customers won't be chartering planes this summer. "The summer fleet realities will also mean layoffs in other parts of our organization," he said.
