Can some one from Ornge in the fixed wing please explain!!!!

Post by The Orillia kid »

Ok.... you advertised for pilots way.. way.. way back in October or September 2008. I applied and I am suitably qualified for the positions advertised. I had information and forms sent to me which I promptly filled out and returned to Aeropersonal.

This was a few months ago now and I have met other pilots who would be great for the job and suitably qualified as well, hoping to get on board to fly the PC12 NG. we cant hang around waiting forever!!!
at least a PFO email sent to us would mean you dont even want to interview us. I can take that....

why is nothing happening? you now have pilots who have interviews with other companies coming up and at the end of the day, they would rather work for Ornge. I dont know why nothing is happening!!
I now see you are advertising for fixed wing pilots again. but this time it is Ornge advertising and not Aeropersonal. I am confused... is this for the same position advertised back in October? or are they seperate jobs advertised?

So can someone please explain what is happening? it has now been at least 3 -4 months of waiting. if you are advertising again due to lack of interest the first time, you are about to lose the Pilots who originally applied the first time. Even if you interview now and tell us that it might be still 1 -2 months away till we are employed. I would rather that than take a job with someone else.

So for someone wanting to fly for you and I think it would be a great company to work for ... what is happening?

Their planes are to replace the dedicated medevac planes that Val and Air Bravo currently operate. Last I heard Val had their contract extended till around November, I wouldn't expect Ornge to start more than a month or two before that.

If you're so concerned with the status of your application, and you haven't heard back, why don't you contact them and find out from the source rather than ask why you're not hearing anything back on here? We don't know anymore than the company itself, so call them first..us second.

It's my guess that they've completely "shitcanned" the old applications. As I recall, they started that process last October. The applications are stale. The situations of lots of candidates has changed. This might also be a sign of a falling out between Ornge and Aeropersonnel. This is all speculation on my part, but I think it fits the pattern.

If you want the job, I think the best bet is to re-apply. If they want a whole whack of documents before the interview, you might ask what they did with the last series?

As far as a bond goes, it doesn't cost very much to send them a resume. You can ask them about it at the interview or during any pre-screening phone calls they may do.

What I wouldn't do is delay any job search or job opportunity in the hope that Ornge might eventually get around to hiring me. I've gone down that road once before. Not a good idea, most particularly in this economy. Remember the basic rule, you're not committed to them unless they offer you a job and you accept it.

I'm going to be available in the early part of 2010. At the rate their hiring process is going, that should work out about right.

I guess your right Conquest about the falling out between Ornge and Aeropersonnel. I can however foresee a big demand for Pc12 captains over the next year or two.

I have heard even though the way the economy is, companies will have a hard time finding Captains over 2000 hrs and a ATPL with all this hiring coming up. maybe its still a pilot market here in Ontario for pilots with experience. So its not all doom and gloom.

It looks like Ornge will take all the experienced medevac pilots off the market who are looking at getting on with a company that has great terms and Conditions.

Based on the way they operate and seeing what they've done to some of there best medics, I really don't want anything to do with that goat f@ck. It would be nice to fly an NG but, remember you're still gonna go into yat in the middle of the night, tired and pissed about doing a bls call at that time because someone just had to clear it off the board.

I'll stop now, it's really not worth it.

You're the same rocket scientist that has a thread on getting OUT of a training bond! You'll go far in this game. Sign your name to something, then make like a maggot and squirm out of it? Welcome to the reason you're all stuck with bonds, kids.

I have heard that interviews are now taking place in Toronto.
Standard HR questions, as well as cap gen questions and alternate questions are being asked at the interview. I have also heard that the quality of guys getting interviewed is quite high.
good luck with the interviews!!!

High quality? As apposed to "low" quality guys? Dumbest remark yet. Must wonder about the "quality" of applicants from Orillia?

doc, his remark regarding quality isnt dumb at all. i work for a very large company and i can tell you the 'quality' of pilots being taken now, except for the odd one, is quite low. almost pathetic in some cases with what im hearing about the sim evals. guys crashing the sim and still getting hired....

the only dumb comments i ever read on here are consistently coming out of your mouth.

Lets see if I have this right? Your company ("a very large company") is hiring low quality pilots. And this makes my comment "dumb". Okay, explain it to me.
