Diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2
I was just diagnosed with Type2. I would like to get my Rec licence. Blood sugars are undercontrol. What hoops do I need to jump thru? Can I still pass a medical?
Re: Diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2
I do not know much about different types, but I do know some with a type of diabetes who takes sugar pills and holds a PPL. Best to talk to your Aviation Doctor.

Tri Pacer,
Where are you located? My flight doc is a diabetic so if he can't tell you, nobody can!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you!

Re: Diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2
I was diagnosed 6 years ago with type 2. I hold an ATPL and am flying for a living. It's actually no biggee if your blood sugars are under control. I was on Metformin for the first six months and had to have an HBA1C test done every six months. Since I am no longer under medication (controlled with diet and exercise) I am only required a blood test annually. No problem at all for a rec license.
