Re: Licencing Q?
I didn't have to.
Wrote CARS several months before I submitted my logbook to get my license.

You don't need to, but I think you have 1 year from the time you start the cars exam to get everything else done.
If you have an issue writing, or they are slow to look at your logbook, or they find that you are missing any items, you could run into problems, and have to start over again.
I would get the book signed off first, then when you write the CARS, you are done.

Re: Licencing Q?
I had to have the experience requirement before I wrote CARs (actually I didn't quite have it, the gal at the TC office 'went out on a limb' for me to write). They didn't care about seeing my logbook until I made the application.
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

Re: Licencing Q?
When I wrote, you had to have the experience (I actually had it, I just didn't have the paperwork with me). You verify your experience with a letter (or letters) written by your employer(s) stating when you worked there, what type of work you performed, and whether it was full or part time. This is separate from your logbook.
Then you have to complete your tasks if you haven't already done so. You are applying for your license when you write the CARs so it should be pretty close to done.
Been a few years, not sure if the info is still current.

Re: Licencing Q?
The TC guy wanted my diploma from school to see when I graduated. I guess so he would know how long out of school I was. Then he wanted letters from my employers stating how long I had worked there and what I did.
After he had all that, he let me write CARS. A couple months later I submitted my logbook and looked to see if I had the required tasks, which I did, and he gave me my license.
This is how it went for me anyways.

Re: Licencing Q?
lots of "where would you find" type questions. so start with "Where would you find the requirments for a maintenance certification?"
Now go to http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/regse ... s/menu.htm and find it.
If you run out of questions come back to this site but don't read the answers they are probably wrong anyways. go back to the cars and find the answers. If this process get tedious just read the car's till you fall asleep.
