Like everything aviation related, Transport Canada wants nothing to do with it. Transport has offloaded Rec, Private and Commercial written exams to official testing centers (read: your local flight school after they jump through some hoops.). Your AA's and other misc exams will still be done at a TC building, how much longer that is I'm not sure.

It's just like your flight tests and PPCs, Transport used to do them but didn't like the responsibility.

I might be a little out of date but for some time you could do all exams at TC but had to do Reg's there. an accredited courses tests can count as TC exams in Maintenance at least. If your course is not accredited (i.e. ICS) then you do all TC exams.

That's not true; only if you've done a 566 approved course.

If you only have the study credit + appreticeship time and want your lic., you have to write the technical exams and regs, in a T.C. office.

the industry standards are already going to shite; how long do you think it would take before TC finds a school that provides the answers to the required written exams just like how chief pilot's give the answer to the class of pilot's doing the annual icing test...

Hmmm, very true, when left to the enterprising individuals out there. I recall hearing of flight tests lasting less than an hour... including the ground portion... oh and it was a pass mark, not a "take me home early you fail" Then again same school had fudging hours in PTRs go figure. Maybe we do need an external testing agency with out their 'hand in the pot'.

Well here is a good one, if I recall the TC Exam for PPL, CPL was $35 now at a designated testing center the price schedule can be set by the center. For example from Morgan Air's website the written test fee for PPL is $125. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

You pay twice.

First in your taxes for TC to off load everything to the private sector.

Second for some company to make enough money to stay in business to support TC.

I wrote my INRAT in november, it was at a TC office in Ottawa. Lets just say it was a 10 desk room an I was by myself. Aviation is going down the drain with all these user fees and high gas prices.

Really? I remember reading many years ago that the Question bank was developed and maintained by Transport Canada inspectors.
