I feel like I have phoned, emailed, visited, faxed every company in Canada and am not getting any feedback other than "not right now, maybe within a couple months but were not sure"....Im looking for an F/O position I have 1200TT 400PIC does anybody know of any reliable overseas companies that are hiring? Ive got no commitments and would go anywhere.

On my side, I am looking for a ramp position or 206 pilot in a year around operation. I have 650 TT, 50 Turbine, 50 multi , 400 PIC.

Unfortunately this is a world wide recession. Looking overseas probably won’t amount to much.

Best bet is to do what you can to stay current, if you have cash and time maybe get those extra ratings you’ve been putting off. Multi, IFR, Float, Instructor etc.

I know people don’t want to hear that but I think times are going to get tougher before they get better and employers are going to be raising the minimum not just in hours but also in qualifications too.

You can resist and be left behind or just bite the bullet and get a bit ahead and maybe beat out the rest for that one last ramp job out there or 180 float flying gig.

Do you speak any other languages ? If so, there's a couple of companies that are hiring in South America and in India, and you have above minimum requirements.

It is rough eh? Man i called every bloody operator in the Southern continent of Africa, Im sure Buffalo Joe had an interesting phone bill at the end of the month. But I eventually got through to a few kept in good contact until I showed up and they were all surprised. One said to me alone he would hire me in my integrity.........AND a few more hours on a Turbine. You have to be here to have the job unfortunately, hands down. Pay can be quite awful though, good thing is alot of operators pay for you accommodation, and pay is in USD and its tax free.....depending on what you tell the CRA inside of two years after leaving the country.

Take a look in Tanzania, Namibia, and Bots, A few companies to list are, Coastal, Regional, and Air Excel in Tanzania.

Safofane, Delta Air, and Mack Air in Bots.

No I didn't pay for them, instead I payed it back by rolling drums of P50 and Jet in the DC3. Doing the 16hr days for the river shuttles when there was no Mackenzie River ferries or ice crossing. Shortly after I quite and good a good flying job, (No Bond).

Buck . and Droopy, why is it so hard for you to just sit and relax, I am trying to help the guy. I don't have every type under my belt, or an infinite amount of wisdom. Im here in Africa, and know of a few companies some hiring and others not, companies visited in the past, and a few good guys he can call if he needs a place to crash. Can you offer aything better? . really, you help him out ok? Tell him where to go in Africa and not pay for a bond......I can. They would even fly him here.

The market in both countries is primarily for experienced, Type Rated Captains and First Officers.

For First Officers it's a "dead end" job as most companies will never upgrade you. If you want to go this route best option is to do it as Captain IMHO.

These are contract positions. Contracts may or may not be renewed. It is a simple supply/demand equation.

Contracts in this part of the World are nothing more than pieces of paper and may or may not be honoured.
