Flying Fireman (att..)
Howdy forum members and visitors....I have been searching info on Canso-A CF-FOQ that Queen Charlotte Airlines had operated for approx. 6 month's before it had crashed into Mt. Benson here in Nanaimo...I have been on this search for the past 7 years and have filled 6 folders of info on her since her construction in San Diago Calif in 1941 until her wreckage still on Mt.Benson since Oct 17th,1951.....Do any of you fellas know if she had a nickname while under QCA, also are there any military photos out there of her on the Eastern Seaboard while submarine chasing with the 5th RCAF Squadron......Hey! . is that you on this forum who worked for QCA a while back?....if you are, maybe you can fill me in on some local info of her since being purchased from the Hudson's Bay Company in April of 1951 when it landed at Vancouver.....thanx for any help on this subject.....stanley strazza (Cell# 250-619-4408)

Re: Flying Fireman (att..)
No I never worked for QCA.
I didn't come to the west coast until 1973 when I started with the Flying Fireman in Victoria.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

An old family friend used to work up there, John Thies. Not sure if he worked for QCA though. HE went to become a Firecat pilot for Conair.

Re: Flying Fireman (att..)
John was a great guy I worked with him at Conair in 86, when we lost him in a Firecat.

John was fantastic...like a second father actually. He was one of those rare individuals that gave and gave.
I grew up within their family and he was one of the first mentors I ever had...
