ATPL Excel Logbook
Will transport canada accept an excel spreadsheet of my logbook, for the atpl application?
Re: ATPL Excel Logbook
Do the CARs say anything about a hand written logbook?
Let's see...
Let's see...
So, it doesn't say it needs to be handwritten, so you're good.401.08

Yes they will. I submitted mine years ago and while it was taking weeks for Transport to approve friends who had submitted a hand written one, it only took them 3 days to go through mine.
Re: ATPL Excel Logbook
jetboy, i dont think you deserve credit here for the speed of your atpl sign-off
this is can be entirely attributed to TC 'random task machine' (the TCRTM for short of course)
the level on the TCRTM is pulled and assigns various tasks which in no way are based on ones skill set or the current tasks needing completion
incidently i believe the TCRTM is programed so that every 4-7 spins the assigned task is 'call hedley and quote a random CAR that was "violated" ' (they have another machine to generate the CARs)
on a serious note though, ive also used an excel spreadsheet, but in combo with my logbook. mostly because the log book doesn't break all the times down into the individual requirements for the atpl, and i dont want to have to leave anything to someone in TC to figure out...because they probably wont. ill be submitting my in a month or so, ill make a point when im there to ask if they care or if it helps.

Re: ATPL Excel Logbook
I had a hand written log book and a excel spreadsheet on a flash drive, with the ATPL requirments in their own column. Handed both in and no issues.
Now mine was signed off with me standing at the counter and I got my new licence in the mail a week later, but this is no way the norm and you should expect it to take a month or two.
I just lucked out and the person was in the office and had a few minutes to review it while I was there, they appreciated how easy it was with the spreadsheet, and that was the only reason it was done so fast. Just don't expect the same.
Good luck

Re: ATPL Excel Logbook
I had no trouble with my Excel log book. They signed the back of my license on the spot and got the real one within a month. I left a copy of it with them on CD. The key to a fast processing is to spend a lot of time on the application for flight crew license, permit or rating form and make sure it's done perfectly and all adds up and agrees perfectly with your log book. Even if you're out .3 of an hour just make a correction entry so that the totals are exact and your will be golden.
