If you like it, this is a 2005 french movie "Les Chevaliers du Ciel".
But Dreamers/Jack Savoretti on your link is not an original song of the soundtrack.

Are fast jets really that twitchy when they fly?

First time I flew a little (tactical) jet, I was
amazed at how twitchy it was, to precisely
hold altitude at cruising speed.
But after all, lift is proportional to velocity SQUARED.
Anyways, the ancient scooter/skyhawk/A-4 had
a roll rate of 720 degrees per second. Now, it
being an "old airplane", I'm not sure that any of
the SOP monkeys here in white shirts with four gold
bars on their shoulders would be interested in
flying one

In formation at a reasonable speed (300-350) you can actually stir the stick around a bit, and while the airplane jiggles around your position relative to the other airplane won't really change. Faster than that though and close formation while maneuvering becomes more of a challenge. The worst movement in the video is PIO, but the guy rapidly settled down and got in phase with it.
Great vid Hedley. Those French are an artsy bunch.

I sat in an A4 and couldn't even come close to full control deflection due to my legs. I think you'd certainly have to be under 6' to fly one. Even then you'd need the legs of a heroin addict to not get in the way.

I remember hearing once that the Air Force... ours/foreign/both, not sure.... had significant height restrictions. It makes sense, anyone know what they are?
P.S. Great vid!!!

What makes you feel the need to slam someone like that? You're a big man, you have nothing to be bitter about, you lead a successful life, you shouldn't feel the need to have have to make that kind of statement.
Airline types get paid to do follow SOPs and wear 4 cheese doodles on their shoulders. It puts bread on their family's tables and I am sure if they had the opportunity to play with the toys you have access to they would love it. What more do you need from them? What's the problem? I understand that's not for you, and that's terrific for you. "Know thyself", as the wise Greeks would say, and certainly you do.
You talk about being dead inside. I question the internal battle that's going inside that head of yours if you have to make such statements considering the position you're in. I question why someone with your success would need to go out of their way to consistently put down another individual's profession and means of sustenance. A lot of your posts have the tendency to come off as "hey look guys, look what I did, look what I earned, is it good enough yet? Am I good? Please validate me" Well let me tell you Hedley, we can provide you with any validation you require. Would you like a hug, would that be a good start? Any time you're feeling a little shaky in the world, just come on here, and we'll raise you up. But you need to communicate with us Hedley, you can't use anger and put-downs towards other people's professions as an outlet. Perhaps you need a little more balance and serenity in your life as well. Have you considered Yoga as a form of meditation?
Maybe you should sit down with someone to try to get to the root of the matter. We share a few mutual contacts, and from what I know of you, many of your avcanada statements don't do your true character any justice whatsoever. You're a good person with a good heart and tender spirit, Hedley. You've done well, worked hard and live an enviable lifestyle. We here at avcanada would like to say "that's enough, you're a great guy, you don't need to build yourself up at the expense of others, we'll like and accept you anyway".
Now I know that a lot of the stuff I just threw at you will be pretty "heavy". You may feel a lot of emotions, anger, rage, sadness, relief, and let me tell you, that's all natural. I am here if you want to talk, but if you need some time alone to think on things, that's perfectly ok too.
This is gonna be a changin' day in your life.
I am just dickin' with ya bro. I don't know you, you're just a pompus douchebag sometimes.

That's a fantastic video....
Here's one just for fun and it shows what it was like to fly in 1985 for £105 a day expenses.
I walked into the hangar this afternoon to find the mechanics looking me up on the internet and here's something they found:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdsqLW7RDuw
In the last bit of the film the director asked me to roll upside down while Steve leaned out to grab the camera.
I told him I'd half roll the Stampe and then barrel it out because there's no way Steve would be able to hold onto that camera with negative G.
The effect was even more scary than a simple slow roll to the inverted since it was like diving off the top of a building!
I took both the actors up for aerobatic flights with the camera on them.
It was great fun.
- The aeroplanes were warmed up and ready to go... You just got in and helpful hands would strap you in. A bit like the Battle of Britain.
- No checklists, no radio, just go fly. (Of course I had to memorise the RAF checks before I did my first solo in a 150).
- I checked myself out in the 450 Stearman... Spandaus took up the front cockpit cover.
It's a view to a different world 24 years ago in this pilot's career.

Great video. Hedley's comments made me look up the designer of the A4, The plane had 3 nick-names. Heineman's Hot Rod, The Scooter, The Tinker Toy or Tink for short.
Following are some key rules A4 designer Ed Heinemann said he tried to adhere to when dealing with people. They give you a measure of the man!
Tell people what is expected of them.
Tell them in advance about changes that will affect them.
Let those working for you know how they are getting along.
Give credit where credit is due, especially for extra effort or performance. Do it while it's hot. Don't wait.
Make the best use of each person's ability.
Strive to keep ahead of schedule.
Don't waste time.
If you're the boss, give guidance, direction, and most important, decisive answers to questions.
Make sure people know where to go to get answers.
Beware of office politicians.
If you want to pick a man for a difficult job, pick one who has already thought out the problem or is capable of doing so quickly.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
A great many people think they are thinking when they are really rearranging their prejudices. Beware of these.
Respect the specialists -- those who are masters of a particular phase of an operation. But be wary of allowing them to make big decisions.
Avoid lengthy committee meetings.
Avoid paralysis by analysis.
Plan ahead.

It's so beautiful it looks unreal when he pokes through the overcast at the bottom of the loop at 2:30.
Awesome video.
Maybe one day... (my file, with a bunch of others, waiting at the CF recruiting center)
